PHOENIX LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSOCIATION (PLEA) ENDORSES SENATOR JOHN McCAIN FOR RE-ELECTION

PHOENIX LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSOCIATION (PLEA) ENDORSES SENATOR JOHN McCAIN FOR RE-ELECTION

PHOENIX, AZ -- U.S. Senator John McCain’s re-election campaign today announced that the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) has endorsed Senator John McCain for re-election. PLEA represents more than 2,500 sworn officers of the Phoenix Police Department.

“We are proud to support Senator John McCain for re-election,” said Mark Spencer, President of PLEA. “Senator McCain has a long record of standing up for the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep our families safe. From the U.S. Navy to the U.S. Senate, John McCain has always served causes greater than his own self-interest -- the same commitment that our officers make on the beat each and every day.”

“I am proud to have the support of the PLEA, which represents more than 2,500 sworn Phoenix police officers,” said Senator John McCain. “Police officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe exemplify what it means to put service over self. They deserve not only our deepest gratitude, but the resources to get the job done. I look forward to continuing our work together to keep Arizona families safe and secure.”

John McCain: The Surge and Afghanistan - WSJ.com

In advance of President Obama's speech to mark the draw down of U.S. forces in Iraq, Senator McCain wrote the following Op-ed in the Wall Street Journal.

The Surge and Afghanistan - by John McCain

Today President Obama will deliver a major speech to mark the draw down of U.S. forces in Iraq to 50,000 troops.

He will likely point out, as his administration has rightly argued, that Iraq still faces major challenges—foremost its inability to form a government—and that neither American sacrifice nor our commitment to Iraq's success is ending today. Yet our troops are returning with honor, which makes this a fitting time to reflect on the causes of their victory and on what lessons from Iraq can help us win the war in Afghanistan.

HOW REPUBLICANS WILL WIN THE SENATE By DICK MORRIS

Published on DickMorris.com on August 30, 2010

It gets tiresome hearing the conventional wisdom say that the Democrats will likely keep control of the Senate.

Far from it.

To gain control, Republicans must win ten new seats. An analysis of the latest polling data suggests that Republicans currently hold the lead in eight pick-up states: Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wisconsin, Washington State, Arkansas, Delaware, North
Dakota, and Indiana.

In a ninth, Illinois, the candidates are tied and, in the tenth - Nevada - Reid is ahead by only one point. And, for insurance, Boxer in California and Gillibrand in New York are both below 50% of the vote.

In Connecticut, Blumenthal is only at 50%. That's a potential pickup of thirteen seats and a likely gain of at least ten (enough for a majority). Any incumbent who is running at less than 50% of the vote is in serious trouble.

It means that a majority of the voters have decided not to vote for him or her. (Asked if you are likely to be married to the same person next year, a vote of "undecided" does not bode well for your marriage).

So here are the numbers:
August 27th Polls

Nevada
:Reid (D) 45 / Angle (R) 44 (Mason Dixon)
With Reid this far under 50%, Angle is likely to win.

August 26th Polls

Florida
:(Currently Republican) Rubio (R) / 40 Crist (I) 30 / Meek (D) 21 (Rasmussen)
So much for Crist!

Pennsylvania:
Toomey 40 (R) / Sestak (D) 31 (Franklin-Marshall)

August 25th Polls

Colorado: Buck (R) 49 / Bennett (D) 40
(Reuters)

California: Boxer (D) 49
/ Fiorina (R) 44 (Rasmussen)
Boxer has gained a bit, but still in trouble.

Louisiana
:(Currently Republican) Vitters (R) / 51 Melancon (D) 41 (PPP)

Wisconsin
:Johnson (R) 47 / Feingold (D) 46 (Rasmussen)
Illinois: Giannoulias (D) 45 / Kirk (R) 45 (Rasmussen)

August 24th polls

Missouri
:(Currently Republican) Blunt: 54 / Carnahan: 41 (Rasmussen)

August 21st Polls

Washington State
: Rossi (R) 52 / Murray (D) 45 (SurveyUSA)

August 20th Polls

Arkansas:
Boozeman (R) 65 / Lincoln (D) 27 (Rasmussen)

This is not a typo!

The most likely results are that Republicans win the eight seats in which they now lead and also take Illinois and Nevada for a gain of ten seats and control. They also have a good shot in California and possible upsets in New York and Connecticut.

Arizona Fights Back over UN Human Rights Report

Arizona Fights Back over UN Human Rights Report
By Ben Johnson

Arizona is fighting back against the Obama administration’s decision to haul her state before the United Nations Human Rights Council. Governor Jan Brewer has penned a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Friday expressing her “concern and indignation” at the administration’s report to the UN, which cited a federal lawsuit against Arizona’s immigration bill as part of its efforts to fight human rights violations.

This author was the first person to report that provision of the administration’s brief.

“Apparently, the federal government is trying to make an international human rights case out of S.B. 1070 on the heels of already filing a federal court case against the State of Arizona,” the governor wrote in a line that echoed the opening of my own piece. She rightly noted the Orwellian aspect of a sitting president appealing to a world government to quash a popular state law.

“The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a State of the United States to ‘review’ by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional,” she wrote.

Brewer vowed to challenge the report all the way to the UN....

Terry Goddard, President Obama and the boycott cartel: wrong on healthcare, wrong on spending, wrong on illegal immigration.

Terry Goddard is endorsed and supported by those trying to financially hurt Arizona. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) have taken the lead in the boycott efforts to financially harm the state and have also joined President Obama in the lawsuits against SB 1070.

In addition, the SEIU and UFCW have joined the National Council of La Raza in demanding that Major League Baseball move next year's All-Star Game which is to be played in Phoenix. The unions have been active in the Arizona protests including the All-Star Game in Anaheim, the Arizona State Capitol, and even outside the White House.

HORNE CALLS ON ROTELLINI TO RETURN $4,176 TO GROUP CALLING FOR ARIZONA BOYCOTT

Republican Attorney General nominee Tom Horne is calling on Felicia Rotellini to return $4,176 contributed to her campaign by the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 99 Political Action Committee, a group which called for the boycott of Arizona over S.B. 1070.

He added,
"Felicia Rotellini has already gone on record as opposing S.B. 1070 and it is troubling that she enjoys the support of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, which has actively called for an economic boycott of Arizona. Not only is such a boycott devastating to our state's already-struggling economy, but out-of-state unions should not be trying to influence the enforcement of our laws through economic coercion. I believe Ms. Rotellini, if she is serious about enforcing the law, should repudiate the support of any organization, including the UCFW that is targeting Arizona economically."

"As someone who has operated my own law firm, met a payroll and helped to create jobs, I intend to foster a legal environment that will bring more jobs to Arizona," Horne said.

Secretary of State's Office: Ballot update for 2010 Primary Election

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aug. 30, 2010
Primary Election Notes

How many ballots are left to be counted?

As of Monday afternoon, there are an estimated 900 provisional ballots statewide that are yet to be processed and counted. These ballots are split among Gila and Apache counties.

OK, so when will we have final, unofficial vote totals?

State law gives the counties five business days to verify and process the remaining early and provisional ballots. That gives them until the end of Tuesday, Aug. 31. A state canvass to certify official election results for federal, statewide and legislative races is scheduled for Sept. 7.

Recount, anyone?

State law reads as follows:

16-661. Automatic recount; requirements; exemption

A. A recount of the vote is required when the canvass of returns in a primary or general election shows that the margin between the two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes for a particular office, or between the number of votes cast for and against initiated or referred measures or proposals to amend the Constitution of Arizona, is less than or equal to the lesser of the following:

1. One-tenth of one per cent of the number of votes cast for both such candidates or upon such measures or proposals.

2. Two hundred votes in the case of an office to be filled by state electors and for which the total number of votes cast is more than twenty-five thousand.

3. Fifty votes in the case of an office to be filled by state electors and for which the total number of votes cast is twenty-five thousand or less.

4. Two hundred votes in the case of an initiated or referred measure or proposal to amend the constitution.

5. Fifty votes in the case of a member of the legislature.

In the case of the race for Arizona Attorney General, what that means is a recount will be triggered if the margin of difference between the top two candidates is less than or equal to 200 votes. In the case of the GOP primary in House Legislative District 6, a recount will be triggered if the margin of difference between the 2nd and 3rd place candidates is less than or equal to 14 votes.

Rasmussen Reports™ - Arizona Governor: Brewer 57% Goddard 38%

Monday, August 30, 2010

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer continues to enjoy a solid lead over Democrat Terry Goddard heading into the fall campaign season.

A new Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey finds Brewer leading Goddard by a 57% to 38% margin. That’s little changed from a month ago and two months ago. Just three percent (3%) prefer another candidate while five percent (3%) are undecided.

The race remains Solid Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard. Following Election Day this November, Republicans are projected to hold a majority of the Governors around the country.

This is the first poll conducted since Brewer formally wrapped up her party’s nomination in last week’s primary.

However, her major primary opponents had dropped out of the race earlier as the incumbent’s popularity soared following passage of the state’s much talked about immigration law.

Most Arizona voters (56%) believe that Brewer’s views are in the political mainstream while just 35% view them as extreme. For Goddard, the numbers are 44% mainstream and 35% extreme.
Eighty percent (80%) view Brewer as politically conservative, including 44% who say she’s Very Conservative.

Fifty-three percent (53%) see Goddard as politically liberal while another 27% say he’s a moderate.

Sixty-five percent (65%) approve of the way Brewer is handling her job as Governor. That’s a remarkable improvement from 41% in March, a turnaround that highlights the impact associated with signing the state’s much talked about immigration law.

President Barack Obama, a vigorous opponent of the state’s immigration law, earns approval from 39% of the state’s voters.

(Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

The survey of 500 Likely Voters in Arizona was conducted on August 25, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

In Arizona, 65% of voters continue to favor the state’s immigration law while just 27% are opposed. Nationally, most voters would like a similar law in their own state.

The federal government’s decision to sue Arizona over the law is opposed by most voters, both in Arizona and nationwide. By contrast, most voters would like to see the federal government sue “sanctuary cities” that refuse to enforce immigration laws.

In Arizona, 38% of the state’s voters rate their own personal finances as good or excellent while 18% say poor. Seventeen percent (17%) say their finances are getting better. However, most (55%) hold the opposite view and say their finances are getting worse.

On a personal basis, 40% have a Very Favorable opinion of Brewer while 21% hold a Very Unfavorable view.

As for Goddard, the numbers are 20% Very Favorable and 26% Very Unfavorable.

Over the past month, Brewer’s positive ratings have inched up a few points. Goddard’s negatives have done the same.

McCain, Coburn criticize stimulus spending on science By Austin Keenan

Senators Tom Coburn (R., Okla.) and John McCain (R., Ariz.) are leading the latest charge against federal spending by targeting a slew of different research programs, claiming that many of them have failed to create jobs, something the stimulus plan was supposed to focus on.

The Senators criticized The National Institute of Health, which received $10 billion in stimulus funding that has been mostly used to research diseases like cancer, heart disease and substance abuse.

While cancer research and heart disease remain virtually unchallenged by critics of the funding, substance abuse research programs have been noticeably more controversial.
The NIH has been called out by several critics for its use of stimulus funds to create studies on the effects of methamphetamines on the sexual behavior of female rats, among other substance-abuse-related programs.

The NIH argues in return that there is no other way for them to study substance abuse.

"I don’t know if the critics want us to experiment with humans, or just give up on the problem of drug addiction, but we aren’t going to do either," said Director Francis Collins to The Wallstreet Journal.

Coburn and McCain also took aim this month on a $1.9 million federally-funded project to study ant populations.

Denmark, a must read!!!!!! By HJS

HJS Comments: Some of the dimwits in Washington and New York are still talking about our being racists and Islamophobes. One thing I have learned about both words is that calling you either a racist or Islamophobe means they have run out of ammunition and are throwing their gun at you.

Now let us talk about tolerance... to the Islamic world it appears to be a one-way street. We are expected to be tolerant. But they still believe that they should "Kill them wherever you find them."(Quran 2:91, 4:89, 4:91, 9:5). Guess who "them" is. Remember, "The worst of Beasts in God's eyes are the disbelievers who do not understand. (Quran 8:22)

Now, let's take a look at Denmark's experience. Denmark -- a nation that loved everyone! Denmark, a must read!!!!!! This article could be seen as racist by some but on the other hand it could also be seen as a reflection of our own reality that somehow our politicians refuse to see. The interpretation is up to the reader, however it is food for thought...

SALUTE to Denmark ... They are trying to fix a huge problem,This could very well happen here on our Continent... Susan MacAllen, a Canadian citizen, is a contributing editor for FamilySecurityMatters.Org

In 1978-9 I was living and studying in Denmark . But in 1978 - even in Copenhagen, one didn't see Muslim immigrants. The Danish population embraced visitors, celebrated the exotic, went out of its way to protect each of its citizens. It was proud of its new brand of socialist liberalism pne in development since the conservatives had lost power in 1929 - a system where no worker had to struggle to survive, where one ultimately could count upon the state as in, perhaps, no other western nation at the time.

The rest of Europe saw the Scandinavians as free-thinking, progressive and infinitely generous in their welfare policies. Denmark boasted low crime rates, devotion to the environment, a superior educational system and a history of humanitarianism.
Denmark was also most generous in its immigration policies - it offered the best welcome in Europe to the new immigrant: generous welfare payments from first arrival plus additional perks in transportation, housing and education. It was determined to set a world example for inclusiveness and multiculturalism.

How could it have predicted that one day in 2005 a series of political cartoons in a newspaper would spark violence that would leave dozens dead in the streets - all because its commitment to multiculturalism would come back to bite?

By the 1990's the growing urban Muslim population was obvious - and its unwillingness to integrate into Danish society was obvious. Years of immigrants had settled into Muslim-exclusive enclaves.

As the Muslim leadership became more vocal about what they considered the decadence of Denmark 's liberal way of life, the Danes - once so welcoming - began to feel slighted.

Many Danes had begun to see Islam as incompatible with their long-standing values: belief in personal liberty and free speech, in equality for women, in tolerance for other ethnic groups, and a deep pride in Danish heritage and history.

An article by Daniel Pipes and Lars Hedegaard, in which they forecasted, accurately, that the growing immigrant problem in Denmark would explode. In the article they reported: 'Muslim immigrants constitute 5 percent of the population but consume upwards of 40 percent of the welfare spending.'

'Muslims are only 4 percent of Denmark's 5.4 million people but make up a majority of the country's convicted rapists, an especially combustible issue given that practically all the female victims are non-Muslim. Similar, if lesser, disproportions are found in other crimes.' 'Over time, as Muslim immigrants increase in numbers, they wish less to mix with the indigenous population.

A recent survey finds that only 5 percent of young Muslim immigrants would readily marry a Dane.'

'Forced marriages - promising a newborn daughter in Denmark to a male cousin in the home country, then compelling her to marry him, sometimes on pain of death - are one problem.'

'Muslim leaders openly declare their goal of introducing Islamic law once Denmark 's Muslim population grows large enough - a not-that-remote prospect.. If present trends persist, one sociologist estimates, every third inhabitant of Denmark in 40 years will be Muslim.'

It is easy to understand why a growing number of Danes would feel that Muslim immigrants show little respect for Danish values and laws. An example is the phenomenon common to other European countries and Canada: some Muslims in Denmark who opted to leave the Muslim faith have been murdered in the name of Islam, while others hide in fear for their lives..

Jews are also threatened and harassed openly by Muslim leaders in Denmark, a country where once Christian citizens worked to smuggle out nearly all of their 7,000 Jews by night to Sweden - before the Nazis could invade.

I think of my Danish friend Elsa - who, as a teenager, had dreaded crossing the street to the bakery every morning under the eyes of occupying Nazi soldiers - and I wonder what she would say today. In 2001, Denmark elected the most conservative government in some 70 years - one that had some decidedly non-generous ideas about liberal unfettered immigration.

Today, Denmark has the strictest immigration policies in Europe (Its effort to protect itself has been met with accusations of 'racism' by liberal media across Europe - even as other governments struggle to right the social problems wrought by years of too-lax immigration.) If you wish to become Danish, you must attend three years of language classes. You must pass a test on Denmark's history, culture, and a Danish language test.

You must live in Denmark for 7 years before applying for citizenship. You must demonstrate an intent to work, and have a job waiting. If you wish to bring a spouse into Denmark, you must both be over 24 years of age, and you won't find it so easy anymore to move your friends and family to Denmark with you. You will not be allowed to build a mosque in Copenhagen .

Although your children have a choice of some 30 Arabic culture and language schools in Denmark, they will be strongly encouraged to assimilate to Danish society in ways that past immigrants weren't.

In 2006, the Danish minister for employment, Claus Hjort Frederiksen, spoke publicly of the burden of Muslim immigrants on the Danish welfare system, and it was horrifying: the government's welfare committee had calculated that if immigration from Third World countries were blocked, 75 percent of the cuts needed to sustain the huge welfare system in coming decades would be unnecessary. In other words, the welfare system, as it existed, was being exploited by immigrants to the point of eventually bankrupting the government.

'We are simply forced to adopt a new policy on immigration.' 'The calculations of the welfare committee are terrifying and show how unsuccessful the integration of immigrants has been up to now,' he said.

A large thorn in the side of Denmark 's imams is the Minister of Immigration and Integration, Rikke Hvilshoj. She makes no bones about the new policy toward immigration, 'The number of foreigners coming to the country makes a difference,' Hvilshoj says, 'There is an inverse correlation between how many come here and how well we can receive the foreigners that come.'

And on Muslim immigrants needing to demonstrate a willingness to blend in, 'In my view, Denmark should be a country with room for different cultures and religions. Some values, however, are more important than others.

We refuse to question democracy, equal rights, and freedom of speech.' Hvilshoj has paid a price for her show of backbone. Perhaps to test her resolve, the leading radical imam in Denmark, Ahmed Abdel Rahman Abu Laban, demanded that the government pay blood money to the family of a Muslim who was murdered in a suburb of Copenhagen, stating that the family's thirst for revenge could be thwarted for money.

When Hvilshoj dismissed his demand, he argued that in Muslim culture the payment of retribution money was common, to which Hvilshoj replied that what is done in a Muslim country is not necessarily what is done in Denmark.

The Muslim reply came soon after: her house was torched while she, her husband and children slept. All managed to escape unharmed, but she and her family were moved to a secret location and she and other ministers were assigned bodyguards for the first time - in a country where such murderous violence was once so scarce.

Her government has slid to the right, and her borders have tightened. Many believe that what happens in the next decade will determine whether Denmark survives as a bastion of good living, humane thinking and social responsibility, or whether it becomes a nation at civil war with supporters of Sharia law.

And meanwhile, Canadians clamor for stricter immigration policies, and demand an end to state welfare programs that allow many immigrants to live on the public dole. As we in Canada look at the enclaves of Muslims amongst us, and see those who enter our shores too easily, dare live on our taxes, yet refuse to embrace our culture, respect our traditions, participate in our legal system, obey our laws, speak our language, appreciate our history.

We would do well to look to Denmark, and say a prayer for her future and for our own. If you agree this article has value, then please pass it on. Islam is no different from CANCER, they are working their way into every culture like a disease & if we don't do something NOW (as described above) then all other cultures will be in serious trouble. WW III will be Islam against what remains of the free western world.
