AZ GOP Hits New Low, Tries to Fundraise off Obama's Uncle

Just to be clear, the issue of Barack Obama's illegal alien uncle is a legitimate one.  It clearly illustrates some of the issues with our immigration system (or lack thereof).  If you want a good, reasoned take on this story, check out Power Line.

If you want a hate-fueled, cheap ploy to use this incident to raise money by a pathetic organization that is as bankrupt morally as it is financially, you'll have to check out the AZ GOP.

They've created an internet petition to get Obama's uncle deported and collect email addresses of like-minded lunatics, but mostly to collect email addresses of like-minded lunatics.

The booking photo/petition shtick serves no purpose but to try to embarrass the President by tying him to a distant relative, as if he's personally responsible for the actions for everyone he's remotely related to.  It violates the unwritten rules of leaving relatives out of politics.  It makes the party look bad - but hey, that's what Tom Morrissey and his team are good at.
And, because this is the AZGOP, there's bound to be an element of questionable ethics involved, so to cover that angle, they are advertising their petition drive on a blog that is owned by a guy who is also a paid consultant for the party.  (Also, a guy who was, just a few days ago, ranting about leaving relatives out of the political game.)

Having your consulting clients spend their ad dollars on your own blog- that's a sweet gig if you can get it.
Hey AZ GOP- Barack Obama has done enough on his own to prove that he's a failure and has been a disaster as President.  Why not focus on real, substantive criticism of his policies and actions, rather than stooping to these childish distractions?

IBOPE Zogby Poll: Perry Races Far Ahead of Republican Field; 4 Announced GOP Candidates Tie or Lead Obama

UTICA, NY--In his first polling test against other announced Republican candidates for President, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is far ahead of the field with 41%, more than three times the total of second-place trailer Mitt Romney.

Four of the announced GOP candidates are tied or ahead of President Barack Obama, with Romney the only one with a lead beyond the poll's margin of error.

These results are from an IBOPE Zogby interactive poll conducted from Aug. 25-29. The likely voter sample size for match-ups of Republicans against Obama is 2,335, and for the Republican nomination is 1,184 likely Republican primary voters.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who continues to say he will not run for president, continues to be the strongest possible Obama opponent in our IBOPE Zogby polling with a 49%-40% lead. Romney leads Obama, 45%-40%, while Perry has a two-point lead over the president and Herman Cain and Rep. Ron Paul are tied. Rep. Paul Ryan, whom some promoted as a possible candidate before he took himself out of the running last week, also ties Obama.

In addition to taking a big lead as GOP voters' first choice for the nomination, Perry is now seen among Republican voters as most likely to win the nomination, a position Romney had held. Perry also leads when unannounced candidates Christie, Ryan and Sarah Palin are included in the GOP voter preference question.

Congressman Flake: So Just How Broke Are We?

So Just How Broke Are We?

Mesa, Arizona - Republican Congressman Jeff Flake, who represents Arizona’s Sixth District, today illustrated the size and scope of the growing national debt.

Last week, Apple, Inc. CEO Steve Jobs resigned his position at the helm of the second most valuable company in the world, according to Newsweek.

In the four years since its debut, Apple has sold more than 100 million iPhones – one of the flagship Apple products Jobs helped to shepherd from infancy to success. At about $200 each, the U.S. is so broke that our $14.4 trillion debt could buy 72 billion iPhones.

“It’s time to tell members of Congress to do their ‘Jobs’ and find ways to start eliminating our debt now,” said Flake.

Along with Senators McCain and Rubio, Congressman Flake introduced H.R. 634, the Debt Buy-Down Act, which allows taxpayers to designate up to 10 percent of their federal income tax liability to reduce the national debt. The bill then requires Congress to reduce federal spending by that amount. More information on the Debt Buy-Down Act can be found here.

PERRY VS. ROMNEY ON ECONOMY By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

Published on DickMorris.com on August 30, 2011

Printer-Friendly Version

Now here comes Rick Perry challenging Mitt Romney's record on job creation. The stats are definitely in his favor. Between June of '09 and June of '11, 50% of the net new jobs created in the United States were in Texas, making Texas number one in job growth by a loooooooooong shot.

Under Romney, Massachusetts' record was terrible by comparison. The Bay State ranked 47th in job growth with employment rising less than one percent from '03 to '07 - his years in office (during which US job growth was 5 percent).

Governor Perry clearly did better than Governor Romney at creating jobs. But it is not two governors who will square off over the issue, it is two men with two lifetimes of experience to look at.

Ever since President Clinton drummed the concept of net job creation into our heads with his mounting claims of the millions of jobs "I created," we have become accustomed to monitoring this figure as evidence of executive economic skill. But, in this case, Romney can point to a lifetime of actually creating jobs while Governor Perry can only cite his role in presiding over their creation as head of state.

It's quite a difference. Perry's Texas has had historically low taxes for decades and is one of only a handful of states without an income tax. In 1970, for example, Texas had 11 million people and Michigan had 10 million. Now Texas has 25 million while Michigan cannot find jobs for its current population of 11 million. The credit for Texas' low taxes belongs not just to Perry, but to Governors George W. Bush and Bill Clements before him. (And even a nod is due Governor Ann Richards in between).

The job creation record is partially due to a surge in oil demand (one quarter of the new Texas jobs are in the energy sector) and some of the new jobs are due to the efforts of former Governor (and client) Mark White in getting the chip research industry to locate in Austin in the 80s.

Romney has actually, personally, financially created tens of thousands of jobs. His record of buying companies, fixing them up, selling off the unprofitable parts, obtaining financing to grow the money-making parts is invaluable in helping us to get out of the current job creation funk.

Any good Republican president will hold down taxes and block new regulations. But it may take a businessman with Romney's skill set to dig down into the bureaucracy and understand precisely how bank regulation or EPA controls stop job creation. Romney needs to make the case that we need more than broad brush policy strokes to get the job machine running again. It is not enough to have been a good driver of the economic engine. You need to be a mechanic who knows how it works.

American People Scammed Again? By HJS

HJS Comments: Were the American People Scammed again? It certainly looks that way. We were told about the Bus Tour, we paid for the million-dollar buses, and he created the scenes of arriving in each stop on the bus.

Some of the usual suspects greeted him as their savior, as usual; however, others greeted him as a man who suffered a long bus trip to bring words of wisdom and comfort to them. If he had told the truth to begin with, the first group would still have been adoring fans, but for the working Americans, or those struggling to find work, shelter and food for their families; it would have been a little difficult to explain away the wasted millions for the unneeded buses in which not only the cost of the buses was wasted; but also the cost of putting the buses on C-17s and flying them to different cities.

I weep for the people who believed in this man and who paid a price they could not really afford to pay just to greet him in each city and express their faith and their hopes in this president to do the right things and bring them out of their misery. This little stunt of trickery only adds to the misery he has been causing. Is this what his staff sees as presidential?

Obama Didn’t Actually Ride The Bus On His So Called “Bus Tour”
August 28th, 2011 (47) Posted By Angelia Phillips.

Live Leak: This is really disgusting! The so called “Bus Tour” was not a bus tour at all!
An AP reporter said that Obama might have ridden these expensive buses only one mile at each stop. Therefore, it wasn’t really a “BUS TOUR”! Obama spent most of the “BUS TOUR” on an airplane traveling between stops. It looks like Obama has scammed the American people again……..with the help of the liberal media. It’s no damn telling just how much this “show” cost the American taxpayer.

OBAMA’S HYPOCRISY KNOWS NO BOUNDS !!!

“Greyhound 1″…. Secret Service Buys Two New $1.1 Million Buses For Three-Day Trip…
President Barack Obama walks to his bus as he arrives in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Minnesota, August 15, 2011, where he is to begin his three-day bus tour in the Midwest centering on ways to grow the economy.

He FLYS into an airport somewhere in the Midwest, hops into a brand new 1.1 Million $ bus, paid for by you and me, for a “bus tour” ‘around the Midwest’, and after an hour or so, gets driven back to the airport for ANOTHER FLIGHT, lands at another airport where another 1.1 Million $ brand new black bus is waiting for him… and repeats all that until his Midwest bus ‘tour’ is done?? Oh yes……and THEN he leaves on a 12 day vacation to Martha’s Vineyard…….to REST UP from this campaign bus tour!

And don’t forget……..those brand new shiny black buses aren’t DRIVEN to the location where they meet Obama. Those buses are loaded up on one or more C-17s. Then, they are flown to the destination ahead of AirForceOne- AND!…….this is REPEATED FOR EVERY CAMPAIGN STOP. On this ‘bus tour’, the Prez will lecture the ‘little people’ on how they need to live within their means and cut-back! Remember when very recently Obama told that family man to GO BUY A HYBRID VAN when he said he couldn’t afford to fill up his truck???? Obama’s ‘carbon footprint’ must be as large as most cities by now.

All of this on the taxpayer’s dime…..But remember, this is NOT a campaign trip – it is “Meet with the people” trip only! So that the DNC does NOT pay a cent for all of this.

PHOENIX CITY ELECTION RESULTS: WES GULLETT & STANTON RUNOFF FOR MAYOR!

Congratulations to WES GULLETT as tonight he made the November Runoff Election for Mayor of Phoenix vs Liberal Greg Stanton.

All Republicans need to unite in order to defeat Stanton, a Democrat, in November.  We sure don't need another Phil Gordon as our Mayor!

Here are the un-official results:

In Phooenix City Council District 2, JIM  WARING defeated 2 others to become the next City Councilman!  Congratulations to Jim Waring for a hard fought victory!

Statement by Peggy Neely

“With almost 50,000 ballots left to be counted, it appears unlikely that I will be able to overcome the margin required to make it into the run-off. Thank you to everyone who has worked on, endorsed, donated to, and supported my campaign. I would like to thank Governor Brewer, Mayor Rimsza, Councilman Johnson, Councilman DiCiccio, my volunteers and the countless others who supported my campaign.

“It is clear that there is growing frustration with government which can be seen from the national level all the way to the local level. I share this frustration and attempted to make that clear in ‘The Phoenix We Want’ and dedicating my efforts to jobs, balancing the budget, and increasing transparency. I stand by these plans and steadfastly believe reform is needed.

“Unfortunately, the frustration has grown to an anti-incumbent fervor that benefitted those who appealed as ‘outsiders.’ I am, of course, disappointed in the outcome, but I remain committed to changing the way Phoenix does business even if it isn’t achieved serving as Phoenix’s Mayor.

“We are at a critical time in deciding Phoenix’s future. I continue to believe that jobs and economic opportunities is the number 1 issue to the voters of Phoenix. We can’t afford the status quo. I hope the new Mayor will make sure to reach out to the community to seek everyone’s input to ensure Phoenix’s economic future.

“I also want to thank my opponents. This was a very hard fought campaign, and I commend them on their efforts. I will await the final election results on Friday and review them into next week prior to making any additional announcements.”

New CNN Poll: Perry sits atop GOP field – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

By: CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser

Washington (CNN) – A new national survey is further proof that Texas Gov. Rick Perry's entrance earlier this month into the race for the White House has dramatically altered the battle for the Republican presidential nomination.

According to a CNN/ORC International Poll of Republicans and independent voters who lean towards the GOP, Perry now sits atop the list of Republican presidential candidates, with strong support from most demographic groups.

Full results (pdf)

The survey, released Monday, indicates that 27 percent of Republicans nationwide support Perry for their party's nomination, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who's making his second bid for the White House, at 14 percent. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin follows at ten percent, with Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at nine percent, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, who's making his third bid for the presidency, at six percent. Every one else listed on the questionnaire registered in the low single digits.

The survey follows a Gallup poll out last week which also placed Perry at the top of the GOP field. Other polling released in the past week also confirms the findings of the CNN and Gallup surveys.

"Perry's support is higher among Republican men, at 32 percent, than Republican women, at 23 percent, but he has more support among either group than any other candidate," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

According to the survey, Perry supporters tend to be older and have higher incomes, but the longtime Texas governor also tops the list, albeit by smaller margins, among lower-income Republicans and those under 50 years old.

"Perry's biggest support comes from Republicans who say they are supporters of the tea party movement - he wins 37 percent of their vote - but he also edges Romney by a couple of points among Republicans who don't call themselves tea party supporters," adds Holland.

Sonoran Alliance Blogger SHANE WIKFORS Hired By the Arizona Republican Party!

Numerous sources confirm to PM that Sonoran Alliance Head Blogger SHANE WIKFORS has been hired by the Arizona Republican Party!  Wikfors, the owner of Sonoran Alliance, is being paid $ 1,000.00 per month by the AZ GOP.

Wikfors blog has been the 'lead cheerleader' for Tea Party candidate for Mayor Jennifer Wright.  Funny how back in 2010, when they both worked for J.D. Hayworth, according to reliable sources within the Hayworth campaign, Wright called Wikfors "Really Stupid" in front of a group of supporters.

Why is Wikfors interfering in Phoenix City Elections?  He lives in Mesa, not Phoenix.  Many of our readers have complained to us about this hypocrisy.

The Sonoran Alliance Blog has been a longtime adversary of Senator John McCain and other elected officials.

Stephen Lemons from the Phoenix New Times has this to say:

As for Sonoran Alliance, which has zero shame in its game, allows writers to post anonymous articles, puts up press releases verbatim, and has sided with likely-to-be-disbarred ex-County Attorney Andrew Thomas despite all of his alleged illegal activities, its moral high horse is more of an ancient mule inching toward the glue factory.

Case in point: SA's reprint of pseudo-reporter Linda Bentley's column in the Sonoran News (different pub, similar name and wingnuttiness) wherein she slimed an innocent American citizen, held her up as an example of "massive voter registration fraud," and suggested she had committed bigamy.

All false, BTW.

So will Wikfors be issuing a retraction? Taking down the offending article? Offering an apology to Mesa resident Benita Lantigua, an upstanding woman who merely signed the Pearce recall petition and ended up the target of right-wing calumny as a result?

I asked Wikfors about this in a comment to his SA attack on Cooper. The response? Crickets.

Not surprising, of course. When folks like Wikfors get religion, keep an eye peeled for the cloven hoof, and your nose cocked for a whiff of brimstone.
Wikfors posted an article last week called "Sonoran Alliance Calls for Ethics Investigation into Rep Daniel Patterson".   In the article, Wikfors questions the behavior of Rep. Patterson.  Well this is kind of the Pot Calling the Kettle Black.  Back in 1998, Wikfors had 'behavior problems' of his own.

The last Friday, Wikfors posts an article begging for $$$ called "Sonoran Alliance Seeking Conservative Investors".  What's wrong Shane, Jason Rose not paying the way anymore?

Maybe Wikfors needs the $$$ to pay his homeowners association?

Now as an employee of the AZ GOP, Shane Wikfors needs to recuse himself from the Sonoran Alliance Blog.  It's NOT ethical to take $$$ from a political entity and 'pretend' to be partial.
