PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS OF ARIZONA ENDORSE SENATOR JOHN McCAIN IN PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS
PHOENIX, AZ -- U.S. Senator John McCain’s re-election campaign today announced that the Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona (PFFA), a group that represents over 6,000 fire fighters and EMS professionals, has endorsed Senator John McCain for re-election in both the August Republican primary and the general election in November.
Senator McCain received the endorsement at a press conference today in Tucson.
“Senator McCain’s leadership has been critical to passing programs and funding that we fire fighters need to do our job,” said PFFA President Tim Hill. “Arizona is a safer place to live, work and raise a family because of Senator McCain’s efforts. We are proud to support him in the August primary and the November general election.”
“I am honored to have the support of these brave men and women who risk their lives every day to keep Arizonans safe,” said Sen. John McCain. “When it comes to coordination, expertise and training, Arizona’s fire fighters are a true model for fire departments around the nation.
"Today, our fire fighters and EMS professionals are asked to perform duties well beyond fire fighting and providing medical attention. These brave men and women are now our nation's front line of defense, and as the first responders to potential terrorist attacks, are essential to our homeland security efforts. We owe them nothing
less than our utmost respect and gratitude, and our continued support in providing them the resources and equipment necessary to protect themselves and the people of Arizona,” Sen. McCain concluded.
Sen. McCain has served as co-chairman of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus since its founding in 1987, and as the original author of the FIRE Act, has been a leader in the fight for grants to equip and hire fire fighters. Most recently, Senator McCain served as one of two Republicans to draft and introduce a reauthorization of the FIRE ACT and SAFER grants, both of which provide critical funding to Arizona's and America’s fire departments.
