Looks Like Some People will be 'Seeing Red'!

Question: Should a State of
Arizona Employee, paid by YOU, the hard working taxpayers of the state, be operating a Partisan Political Blog with viewpoints directly contrary to the political viewpoints of their employer, which they update during work hours probably from work computers?

That is the question we hope to answer here.

Reliable sources tell Politico Mafioso that the Blog,
P.R.O.L. , is run by our old "pal" PHIL MASON, Administrative Svcs. Supervisor for the AZ Dept of Administration who reports to Speaker Jim Weiers, a McCain supporter, & CAROL TUROFF, former two-term member of the Commission on Appellate Court Appointments. Mason also posts anonymous comments under fake names all day long on other blogs, including on his own and the Sonoron Alliance.

MASON, the
'Grand Poobah' who runs the far right PAChyderm Coalition behind the scenes, is a longtime controversial operative in the Arizona Republican political scene. His "alleged" PUSH POLL scandal in 2006; Ballot Box stuffing in a 2004 National Committeeman race, has led to many suspicions about his 'ethics'.

Carol Turoff, Mason's "Lackey", is the other main contributor writing and posting McCain-hating articles on that Blog. Turoff, a political writer and longtime
'McCain Hater' has long been a divisive force in local Republican politics.

PHIL MASON, whose many pseudonym's include GopPhil, W Phx Activist, Ben F. among others, spends most of his time bashing other Republicans who don't agree with HIS views. Certainly can't help his boss, Speaker Weiers, cooperate with other Republicans. Here are a couple of examples:

Ben F. Says: January 31st, 2008 at 10:59 am

McCain got only 11% of the vote by Precinct Committeemen two weeks ago at the MCRC Mandatory Meeting with 60% voting McCain in the Most Unacceptable category.

And someone is shocked that a resolution is possible stating where McCain has been out of step with the PC’s and further states that he is not the favored candidate of the MCRC.
I can’t believe that anyone is surprised, including McCain.

Bettina, (Bettina is Bettina Nava, John McCain's Area 9 National Director)
Rob Haney is not the problem, the lemmings, liberals and RINOs under the Republican Party tent are the problem. There’s not a dime’s worth of difference between McCain and Billary.

If you want to be in the Democrat Party, change your registration, do not be the Trojan Horse foot soldier for the Double Talk Express bent on destroying the Republican Party.

Funny, those posts were done during 'Business Hours'. I wonder if the Arizona Department of Administration should investigate this to see if Mason is using State computers for his 'rants"?

Many Republicans that I speak with are sick and tired of these two. PHIL MASON wants to purge the Republican Party of those who don't agree with him 100%. Your a RINO if you don't agree with him. Sorry Phil, but YOU are the
"Real RINO".

Seeing Red AZ should be more honestly renamed to "Phil Mason and Carol Turoff slam other Republicans."

Today was the first day in ages Phil wasn't on AOL all day. If youre on AOL's chat buddy list, you can see when he's on line and open for chatting. Tax payers of Arizona: You are paying for this guy to use his PERSONAL AOL account all day at work, chatting, emailing, AND BLOGGING!

This sounds like a bunch of sour grapes to me. I have only known Phil Mason for a matter of months, but he has always been honorable and reasonable in my dealings with him. You use “Reliable sources” – like the New York Times or the Arizona Republic uses when they don’t have any facts, but want to smear someone.

The author of this article cannot even copy correct times. Using your own link on the first charge, the time of the comment on Sonoran Alliance is 10:59 PM, not 10:59 AM. Only one letter change, but important since eleven o’clock at night is not “business hours”. On the second charge, 7:55 am is also not usually defined as “business hours” for government offices.

To your last accusation of he is trying to purge anyone who doesn’t agree with him, it appears that you are the one trying to do the purging. What other reason could there be for your unjustified attack?

Most Reagan Republicans agree with the following Ronald Reagan quote of March 1, 1975 that is printed on the Home Page of Pachydermcoalition.com :

“A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs, which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers . . . And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these conservative principles, then let them go their way.”

Cory,

You haven't known Phil long enough. Everyone in Republican politics here knows he's been pulling this kind of stuff for years. He'll say one thing to your face and another thing behind your back. He should not be allowed to hide behind pseudonyms and attack other Republicans while claiming to be a GOP activist. If Weiers doesn't reign him in, he may lose reelection over it. McCain has a bad temper. If I were Weiers, I would order Phil not to post a single thing anonymously on blogs because too many people know he is using anonymity to attack McCain.

Ann,

I noticed you didn't address Cory's information about the time of the post being 12 hours off, but still attack Phil Mason's integrity rather than the integrity of the original post.

I personally know Phil Mason and know that he is scrupulous about avoiding partisan politics while he is working for the House of Representatives. So far there have been no legitimate, verifiable examples presented of Phil doing partisan political activity while working for the House of Representatives.

Regarding the allegations concerning the push poll, the accusations against Phil are lying smears (much like the original post on this blog). I worked on the Goldwater campaign and know that Phil was as surprised as the rest of us by that "poll."

Furthermore, it is my understanding that Phil Mason has done great work in his job with respect to improving efficiency and automating the flow of information within the House of Representatives. He has definitely served the taxpayers of Arizona very well. We are fortunate to have such a capable and motivated public servant in our government.

Phil Mason is one of the most decent and honorable people I have met. It would be a huge mistake for anyone to fire him on trumped up charges like those in this blog.

If these types of smear tactics and politics of personal destruction are a trademark of McCain supporters, then McCain better get them back aboard a straight talk express if he expects decent, honest conservatives to react to him with anything but disgust and revulsion. John McCain should disavow Political Mafioso if it does not back down from these libelous attacks.

P.S. I am the Treasurer of the Pachyderm Coalition, a Reagan Republican political group. I can assure you that Phil Mason, while interested in promoting Reagan Republicans rather than RINOs for elected offices (as is true for all Pachyderm Coalition members), does not even come close to regarding anyone who disagrees with him on anything as being a RINO. He has promoted building working relationships with all Republicans with whom we can find common ground.

Howard,

I've heard from others down at the state capitol that Phil does nothing but blog half the day. *Someone* posted something critical of McCain today on Seeing Red AZ (http://seeingredaz.wordpress.com/2008/06/25/new-cronkite-eight-poll-shows-surprisingly-slim-home-state-lead-in-presidential-race/) Obviously Weiers isn't concerned. It's too bad because McCain has a REALLY BAD TEMPER. Trust me, I've been on the receiving end of it.

Jane Hull got rid of Phil years ago. It can be done again. He should have never been allowed to come back. He should stick to running his far right pachyderm organization where he can blog to his heart's content, instead of us taxpayers paying for his divisive blogging.

Ann,

Of course, you didn't respond to my question about the original post having the time of Phil's post being 12 hours off.

Also, you are claiming that Phil Mason writes the Seeing Red Arizona blog. There is no proof of that. In fact, Phil has nothing to do with publishing that blog. If he posts to it, he does so as an ordinary responder rather than as a primary blogger.

There is a reason Speaker Weiers does not care about Phil Mason writing for Seeing Red Arizona. It's because Phil doesn't write for it.

You make insinuations based on alleged hearsay without providing any substantiation.

Your attempts at communicating a message of intimidation by threatening people who disagree with John McCain or work with people who do is vile. We all know that McCain has a temper. Is he going to fully repeal freedom of speech and freedom of the press for anyone who disagrees with him?

This blog is filled with smears and is a disgrace to the person who publishes it. If John McCain has an ounce of integrity or decency, he will disavow this blog (assuming he is even aware of its existence).

The only reason I visited this blog was because I was told that Phil is being smeared. Now that I have seen what kind of indecent rag this blog this is, I won't bother coming back to post to it anymore.

Nice try Howard! Let's open Pandora's Box if you want. Bring it On! What Ann has commented on is true. You really want to go there Mr. Levine?
