VOTE for JOHN McCAIN in Tuesday's AZ GOP Primary!

Like me, Mike Christian was shot down and captured in Vietnam. As his cellmate, I watched as Mike began to collect little scraps of red, white and blue cloth, and with a needle fashioned from a splinter of bamboo, he sewed an American flag on the inside of his blue prison shirt. Every afternoon, my fellow POWS and I would recite the Pledge of Allegiance to Mike's flag. No other event of the day held as much meaning for us.

The prison guards soon discovered Mike's flag - an offense for which he was beaten severely. Mike was returned to our cell and we helped him to the bare mattress in the room. After a few moments, with Mike still bloodied, broken and eyes nearly swollen shut, we watched in awe as he gathered his scraps of cloth and started sewing another American flag.
We must never forget those Americans who, with their courage, with their sacrifice, and with their lives, have protected our right to vote.

Poll shows McCain, Clinton well ahead in Arizona

Presidential candidates John McCain and Hillary Rodham Clinton hold double-digit leads among the state’s most reliable voters heading into Arizona’s presidential preference election, according to an Arizona State University/KAET-TV (Channel 8) poll released Tuesday.


John McCain . . . 41 %
Mitt Romney . . . 18 %
Fred Thompson . . . 9 %
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee . . . 7 %
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani . . . 4 %
Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas . . . 2 %
Undecided . . . 19 %

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

The survey sampled the opinions of “high efficacy” voters, defined by pollsters as registered voters who had voted in at least three of the past six elections. The survey results included opinions of voters who said they were firm in their choices, plus voters who said they were leaning toward a particular candidate.

According to the ASU/KAET poll, the top reasons people plan to vote for McCain: his views and positions on issues; his experience and qualifications; his military background; his reputation as a straight talker; and his honesty and integrity.

A new Arizona State University poll finds John McCain solidifying his home-state standing as the Republican presidential primary approaches.

The statewide survey, conducted Thursday through Sunday by ASU and KAET-TV (Channel 8), targeted "high efficacy" voters who have participated in at least three of the past six elections.
Forty-one percent of respondents told the pollsters they are backing or leaning toward McCain, a four-term senator from Arizona.

Mitt Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, is in a distant second place, according to the poll. Eighteen percent said they are supporting or leaning toward Romney.

Fred Thompson, the former senator from Tennessee who today quit the presidential race, finished third with 9 percent saying they support or lean toward him.

I think the Alliance is drinking the Heath Ledger Kool-Aid. They are spinning out of control!

Rob Haney's Interview with a MN paper...

Rob Haney,the LD-11 Chairman who spearheaded the recent MCRC Presidential 'Straw Poll' and longtime nemisis of Sen. John McCain, has done an interview with a Minnesota based newspaper - The Minn Post.

Here are some excerpts from the article by G.R. Anderson Jr. :

"We put a fatwah out on censuring McCain in summer 2005," Rob Haney, GOP chair of District 11, said Tuesday morning. "It passed."

Haney's wife, Marne, wanted to make it clear that her husband was joking about using "fatwah," but Rob clearly was not joking about the symbolic censure. In fact, over the course of the last few years, you could say Haney has become the hometown thorn in McCain's side.
"That's safe to say," Haney confirmed.

"Electing McCain is tantamount to electing
Hillary," Rob Haney said. "What's the difference?"

"I do believe

McCain

will win in the

primary,"

Haney said, even

though

there was a hope

it wasn't

true.

But leading up to and beyond Feb. 5 (can we drop the "Super-Duper Tuesday" stuff already?), Haney and his ilk in the Arizona Republican Party will do all they can to stop candidate McCain. They can gripe all they want about guns, God and abortion, but what irks Haney most about McCain is that he represents what he refers to repeatedly as the "Republican hierarchy."

And if that gets McCain through primary season and secures his party's nomination, the Haneys foresee bad things coming to the senator from Arizona on Election Day. "It will be a sign, a message, like when Al Gore lost Tennessee in 2000," Marne Haney said.

Thank God Arizonan's don't agree with these miserable two!!

Regarding "Mitt snags Mich." (Editorial, Wednesday):

The editorial states that Sen. John McCain "likely didn't help himself with his campaign-trail comment several days ago that lost auto-industry jobs were not coming back."

I find it interesting that stating the truth rather than pandering to what
people want to hear, regardless of the facts, was said to be a "fundamental
misreading of Michigan voters." What a sad state of affairs. This not only
implies that in not playing the game by saying anything to get elected

McCain was somehow remiss or lacking.

It also says very little about the electorate that it would prefer to have the wool pulled over its eyes.Voters do sense that politics is an act.Therefore, they can find it hard to believe that what is said during campaigns really matters much. - B. Jean Walters, Cave Creek
