Wil Cardon Fact Check: “I was never on his [Flake’s] Finance Committee…it’s not true.”

Cardon Fact Check: “I was never on his [Flake’s] Finance Committee…it’s not true.”

PHOENIX -- Today the Flake campaign is releasing the following fact check of millionaire self-funding senate candidate Wil Cardon saying that he never served on the Finance Committee for Jeff Flake for U.S. Senate. This is the first in a series that will examine factually inaccurate statements and claims made by Cardon and his campaign in the race to replace retiring U.S. Senator Jon Kyl.

The Claim

Speaking to voters at a campaign event on October 29, 2011, Wil Cardon denied to those gathered that he ever served as a Finance Committee member for Jeff Flake for U.S. Senate:

“…I was never on his [Flake’s] Finance Committee…it’s not true. The truth is I didn’t do any of that.”

The Facts

In an e-mail dated February 15, 2011 -- after Flake announced for U.S. Senate -- Wil Cardon was informed by Flake’s fundraiser that the campaign was about to announce its Finance Committee members, and asked if she had Wil’s permission to print his name on the list as “Nicole & Wil Cardon.”

Wil responded a few hours later to simply confirm: “That looks good.”

As late as March 2011, the Cardon’s were still on the Finance Committee, appearing on an invitation for Jeff Flake’s event with Louisiana Governor BobbyJindal.

Conclusion

Wil Cardon is not honest about his past support for Jeff Flake.
Despite what he tells voters today, Wil was in fact on Flake’s Finance
Committee for U.S. Senate. The February 2011 email confirms his
participation on Flake’s committee, and the March 2011 invitation proves his role.

Arizona voters have high expectations for their leaders, and rightfully so when considering a candidate for public office as important as the United States Senate.

Stay tuned…there’s more to come.
