It must be undead week here at PM. Yesterday was Brett Mecum and the skeletons in the closet, today we have Mark Spinks, the zombie "consultant" that you just can't seem to kill. (In the figurative sense, for those of you who inevitably won't be able to figure that out.)
Multiple sources have reported hearing that Mark's departure from the AZGOP was nothing more than a good ol'-fashioned shell game.
Instead of working directly for the AZGOP as a consultant, he'll work for the same company that Tom Morrissey is using to employ (but not employ) Thayer Verschoor. Mark gets to keep siphoning off AZGOP donor dollars, but keeps his name out of the FEC reports.
I was skeptical when I heard that Mark was gone, and this is the kind of crap I expected them to pull. I think I have the question in the headline wrong. The real question is whether or not he ever left.
We haven't been able to confirm this report definitively yet. More to come as the story develops.
