Reince Priebus, The Anti-Tom Morrissey

Reince Priebus raised $3.5 Million between January 14 and January 31. $3.5 Million in 17 days. $205,000 a day.

The outpouring of support, attributed largely to "major donors," indicates that people are glad to have Priebus, a grownup who understands his role, in charge. When people have faith in party leadership, they open their pocketbooks. It's pretty simple.

(Though I'm hardly a "major donor", I sent Mr. Priebus a check the day he was elected, to let him know I was happy he was there.)

When running for the RNC chair position, Priebus declared that he understood the most important part of running a major Party organization was to keep the dollars flowing. Since he's been elected, that's exactly what he's done.

Which bring us to Tom Morrissey. How's the fundraising going for Arizona's conservative savior? I must have missed the press release trumpeting his fundraising prowess.

Maybe that's because the Communications Director quit when his paycheck bounced.

Or maybe it's because Tommy, like Rob Haney, thinks that picking fights with elected Republicans, rather than raising money, is his primary function.

But we have two reasons to be hopeful:

#1. Word on the street is that Tommy M. made a guest appearance at the LD-17 meeting, where he begged the PCs for some cash. (And video taped it for some reason.) Maybe he can raise money for the state party by stealing donors from Legislative Districts. That's a winning strategy, no?

#2. With Reince Priebus kicking ass at the national level, maybe Tommy can ask for a bailout?

Or, perhaps the best option of all, Republicans, frustrated by the incompetent circus that is the state party, could pressure Tommy to resign, and replace him with a grownup. But I'm not holding my breath.
