WHO IS RODNEY GLASSMAN? Glassman Says He Would Have Voted For ObamaCare

PHOENIX, AZ -- Rodney Glassman is an unabashed supporter of President Obama’s government takeover of healthcare. Glassman determinedly says that if he were in the Senate when ObamaCare came to the floor, he “most certainly” would have voted for the bill.

But even though Glassman says he would have voted for ObamaCare, he still doesn’t think the bill goes far enough. Glassman says the Democratic healthcare ‘reform’ bill – which included an unconstitutional mandate that every citizen purchase health insurance – was merely “a good first step,” leaving open the question of what Glassman thinks the next step should be. And while Glassman continues to defend President Obama’s unpopular government takeover of healthcare, it’s worth pointing out that a poll released yesterday shows that over half of voters support repealing the bill.

In response to Rodney Glassman’s embrace of President Obama’s government takeover of healthcare, McCain 2010 Communications Director Brian Rogers released the following statement:

“As Democrats across the country work diligently to distance themselves from the unpopular Barack Obama, Rodney Glassman is embracing Obama’s liberal agenda -- from opposition to SB
1070, to the failed stimulus package, to government takeover of healthcare. Since Rodney is selling himself to voters as a rubber stamp for President Obama, we’re curious if he would accept an offer from Obama to campaign for him. We would certainly welcome such a development, and maybe while the President is here, he could make his first-ever visit to the border.”

FACT CHECK: GLASSMAN WOULD HAVE “MOST CERTAINLY” VOTED FOR OBAMACARE

Glassman Says He Would Have Voted For ObamaCare, And Calls The Bill “A Good First Step”:

Glassman Says He “Most Certainly” Would Have Voted For ObamaCare If He Had Been In Congress At The Time. Tucson Weekly’s Jim Nintzel:“Would you have voted in favor of the healthcare reform package?” Glassman: “Most certainly. We need healthcare reform.” (KUAT’s “Arizona Illustrated,” 6/11/10)

Glassman Calls ObamaCare “A Good First Step.”
“According to a study by Harvard University, 45,000 people die every year for the lack of insurance. Many others without insurance get care they cannot pay for and the rest of us pick up the tab. The health care reform bill is not perfect but it is a good first step. We now have measures that help seniors pay for prescription drugs. Health insurance companies can no longer deny coverage for people who are sick.” (“Candidate Q & A,” The Arizona Republic)
