Congressman Flake Spotlights Egregious Earmark of the Week



$90,000 for New Jersey Shore Protection in New Jersey



Sep 13,2010 - Mesa, Arizona - Republican Congressman Jeff Flake, who represents Arizona’s Sixth District, highlighted a pork project contained in the Energy and Water appropriations bill for fiscal year 2010.This week’s egregious earmark: $90,000 for New Jersey Shore protection from Hereford Inlet to Cape May Inlet.



“Congress continues to think the voters can be snookered,” said Flake.



About Congressman Jeff Flake



Jeff Flake, presently serving his fifth term in Congress, represents the Sixth Congressional District of Arizona. This district includes parts of Mesa and Chandler and all of Gilbert, Queen Creek, and Apache Junction. Jeff serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Resources, and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.Jeff is a fifth-generation Arizonan, raised on a ranch in Snowflake, Arizona (the town was named, in part, after Jeff's great-great grandfather). After serving a Mormon mission in southern Africa, Jeff graduated from Brigham Young University, where he received a B.A. in International Relations and an M.A. in Political Science. More importantly, it was at BYU that Jeff met his wife, Cheryl.
