“On this 11th day of September our nation returns its thoughts to evil and to good; to the evil visited upon us those nine years ago, and the good brought forth through the courage and love of Americans in the face of that vicious attack, on that day and every day since.
“Consider my friend Jimmy Regan, who brushed off big job offers and law school scholarships to serve his country in the 75th Ranger Regiment. The first time I met him was on his recruiting trip to Duke. Midfielder Jimmy Regan would play lacrosse and go to school at Duke; years later, Sergeant Jimmy Regan died in northern Iraq on Feb. 9, 2007.
“There is a now-famous photograph of Jimmy’s beautiful fiancé, Mary, lying face-down in sorrow by his grave marker at Arlington National. It will live as one of the iconic images from our war-torn era.
“But Jimmy’s sacrifice and brilliance is not a rare trait in the men and women of our armed forces—it is a common attribute, in no way an exception but ever the rule.
“An effective national security is totally dependent on the resolve of a Congress that provides the resources and support to our armed forces, and otherwise leads our nation wisely, to preserve its greatness and ensure the prosperity and security of the American people.
"My resolve, if I am fortunate enough to serve, will be to change the direction of the current Congress and Administration and to assert once again that it is the people of our nation living in freedom, and not their government ruling in arrogance, that has made of America the greatest nation on Earth.
“God bless the men and women of our armed forces, God bless the great state of Arizona and God Bless America.”

David Schweikert Sets Aside the Campaign Trail to Respect and Remember 9/11
On September 11, Patriot's Day, Americans will join together and honor the 2,993 fellow Americans and emergency personnel who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. In addition, we pay ultimate respect to those who have served and continue to serve our country and protect our freedom.
"This is a solemn day," said David Schweikert. "We all remember where we were on 9/11. It is a day we will never forget."
To show respect and remembrance, David Schweikert will suspend campaigning for the day. David encourages his staff, volunteers, and fellow citizens to join in the many opportunities available in observance of Patriot's Day. He plans to attend services and spend time with family.

Remembering 9-11
by Ruth McClung
A day that I will personally remember the rest of my life is September 11, 2001. Every event of the day will be forever burned into my memory. America had been attacked. It was the day when I saw evil personified and it disgusted me. It was the day when I saw heroes stepping forward from every walk of life. It was the day when I saw charity that knew no bounds. It was the day when I saw America for the country she can be, and I loved her. I remember when then President Bush stood there among the rubble and said, "I can hear you."
To the innocent people who died, "We still hear you." To those working in the twin towers who were so violently attacked, "We still
hear you." To the heroes who fought to stop the terrorists on flight 93, "We still hear you."
To those in the pentagon who were at work keeping America safe, "We still hear you." To the firefighters and police who risked or gave their lives, "We still hear you."
To the volunteers who showed the world the bravery, perseverance, and compassion of America, "We still hear you."
To the military who have fought and are still fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, "We still hear you."
To all of you who where deeply effected by September 11, 2001, you are not alone. "We still hear you."
I will never forget, we will never forget,
God Bless you and America,
Ruth
