BORDER SHERIFF LARRY DEVER ENDORSES HORNE FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever is endorsing Republican Tom Horne in the race for Attorney General.

"Tom Horne has a wealth of experience as an attorney, and his pledge to work with local law enforcement to combat illegal border crossers, defeat the drug cartels, added to his support of S.B. 1070, means he is the kind of Attorney General Arizona needs," Dever stated. "He is clearly the best person for the job and I look forward to working with Tom Horne as our next Attorney General."

"As the only Attorney General’s candidate who supports S.B. 1070, I am tremendously honored to have Sheriff Dever's endorsement," Horne said. "Sheriff Dever is literally on the front line of law enforcement at the international border with Mexico. Every day, he and his deputies see the impact of the drug cartels and illegal crossers who are a menace and a threat to the safety of Arizonans throughout the state, but especially in border communities.
As Attorney General, I will pledge to work very closely with Sheriff Dever to combat this problem. Among my first acts upon taking office will be to re-open the Douglas Attorney General's office and to add personnel to the Attorney General's office in Nogales. These areas have not received the attention they need under the current Attorney General, and I am committed to doing a great deal more to help local
law enforcement authorities such as Sheriff Dever protect Arizonans. I thank him for his support."
