AZ REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES UPDATE for Friday Sept 17, 2010

ICYMI: Franks Says Planned Parenthood More Corrupt Than ACORN

In Case You Missed It: Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) appeared on Fox Business' "Money Rocks" with Eric Bolling to comment on a lawsuit alleging that Planned Parenthood has overbilled the government by hundreds of millions of dollars.

According to Victor Gonzalez, the former CFO of the California branch of Planned Parenthood, just one San Diego-area clinic overcharged the government by $5.2 million. Statewide, Gonzalez said he had witnessed more than $180 million in overcharges. Similar allegations have surfaced in numerous other states, including New Jersey and Washington.

Franks said, given that the corruption took place on such a broad level, one "would expect that the Justice Department would take a look at this," however so far no action has taken place under the Democrat-controlled Congress.

Kirkpatrick Misleads Voters Again

September 15, 2010

(Prescott, AZ): Today, the Gosar for Congress campaign set the record straight on Ann Kirkpatrick’s claim that she is independent of Nancy Pelosi, President Obama and the Democratic leadership in Washington, D.C.

“Ann Kirkpatrick has voted for Obama - Pelosi agenda time and time again including voting for President Obama’s $787 billion failed stimulus plan that gave millions to AIG executives in bonuses and voting for the Democrat’s $3.4 trillion budget that has been called
the most fiscally irresponsible budget in history. If that is how Kirkpatrick defines being an independent, we would like to hear how she defines telling the truth,” said J.P. Twist, Gosar for Congress campaign manager.

Even the Arizona Daily Sun called Ann Kirkpatrick’s ad misleading when they wrote today:

“As to her assertion of independence, the Washington Post calculates that Kirkpatrick has voted with the Democratic majority 86 percent of the time so far in her first term.” - Arizona Daily Sun, September 15, 2010

Congressmen in Glass Houses Shouldn't Throw Stones

Rep. Raul Grijalva, responding to census bureau statistics that show Arizona has the second highest poverty rate in the nation, blamed Governor Jan Brewer and the Arizona Legislature for our state's problems. Perhaps Mr. Grijalva should take a closer look in the mirror before he starts casting aspersions elsewhere. After all, Raul Grijalva's the one who called for a boycott of Arizona-at the height of the worst recession since the 1930s.

Grijalva says we need more "infrastructure investment, retirement protections, and more green energy jobs". Let's break that down.

Arizona is broke. Gov. Brewer and the State Legislature have had to make the largest budget cuts in Arizona history. Infrastructure investment right now means more debt we can't afford.

Retirement protections? The State of Arizona is not responsible for retirement planning--Social Security is not a function of the state. So who's retirement is he referring to? Not private citizens. No, he's referring to his government union friends--who already make between 30% and 50% more than their counterparts in private industry.

More green energy jobs? Mr. Grijalva is apparently unaware that green energy is still not competitive in the marketplace. Until the technology develops enough to compete on it's own, the only way to create "green energy" jobs is through massive government subsidies--more debt.

"Raul Grijalva has said this is a race about philosophies, and once again we see that's absolutely true, " said Ruth McClung.

"I believe that the only way to solve our problems, get people back to work, and better their lives is to create economic growth by supporting small businesses and embracing the free market. Raul Grijalva believes in more government, more debt, and more
irresponsible spending. Enough is enough, Congressman."

The Obama-Pelosi summer of recovery is now in the fall of reckoning...

The big government spending has failed. And now Congressmen like Harry Mitchell are trying to hide from their Obama-Pelosi spending record.

Congressman Mitchell wants you to forget about his job killing record, but…

Behind curtain number 1 is the Wall Street bailout. Mitchell spent our tax dollars and leveraged our children’s future to bail out fat cats.

David Schweikert opposed the Wall Street bailout and will never apologize for defending the free enterprise system. Our country is headed in the wrong direction and we need a true fiscal leader like David fighting for our economic freedom.

Let’s send Congressman Mitchell and his bailout voting record packing for good!

Behind curtain number 2 is the failed stimulus "plan". Obama and Pelosi corralled puppet Congressmen like Mitchell into the most staggering abuse of the American taxpayer in history. The spending puts the failed New Deal to shame, and it was purely a political pork operation.

The stimulus was a doomed policy from the beginning. How many billions have we spent on Obama's road signs and union cronies, all allowed under Congressman Mitchell’s supposed “watch.”

Click here to send the message that on November 2 we change course. It is unacceptable for a government to tax-and-spend, borrow-and-spend, and leverage our sovereignty in generational tyranny. We want true leadership that fights for an economy that creates real jobs, not more bureaucrats.

And finally, behind curtain numbed 3 is ObamaCare. The multi-trillion dollar liberal attempt to buy political power. Bought by the healthcare lobby and paid for by higher taxes, Medicare cuts, and foreign debt auctions.

Congressman Mitchell wants us to believe he read the bill. He didn’t. But even more insulting is his insistence that he wouldn’t vote for the bill, before Nancy Pelosi rapped his knuckles into far left obedience.

This madness must stop. We need true leaders that are willing to take on their own party when they are wrong, and who are willing to fight for the American taxpayer and do what’s right.

The Arizona liberals are waging an all out war, reverting to desperate negative attacks that are meant to distract us from the issues Mitchell will lose on.

Mitchell has hundreds of thousand of dollars behind his dark attack messages, but we are going to give him the fight of his career.

With your support, we can send Congressman Mitchell and this Pelosi Congress packing!
That starts today - - not tomorrow, not in a few minutes. Right now. David Schweikert needs your help to fight and win. Our country, our economy, and the kind of nation we are is dependent on winning back the U.S. House of Representatives for the People.
Can David Schweikert count on your support today?
We cannot afford to lose this fight.

Giffords Not Among Democrats Against Tax Increase

Most reasonable people understand that raising taxes in an economic downturn is foolhardy. This is why a group of 31 House Democrats sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi saying “in recent weeks, we have heard from a diverse spectrum of economists, small business owners, and families who have voiced concerns that raising any taxes right now could negatively impact economic growth.” These Democrats have therefore announced their support for extending the Bush tax cuts.

Sadly, Gabby Giffords is not among them. Staying squarely in Pelosi’s fold. Giffords remains foolishly steadfast in her support of raising taxes in the middle of the Great Recession.

“An increase in small business tax would seriously
jepordize any chance of real job growth in Arizona,” said Bob Westerman , Pima County GOP Chairman.

“If Giffords wants more jobs, she clearly
doesn’t understand how jobs are created.”

Raising taxes now will cost countless Americans their jobs. It’s only fair that it should cost Giffords her job, too.
