McCAIN CAMPAIGN UNEARTHS SECOND HAYWORTH INFOMERCIAL

PHOENIX, AZ -- U.S. Senator John McCain’s re-election campaign today unearthed a never-before-seen second infomercial starring Congressman J.D. Hayworth.

This new, never-before-seen second infomercial features Congressman Hayworth along with a who’s-who of infomercial royalty, including Matthew Lesko, Ron Popeil and Miss Cleo.

The new infomercial is apparently based on his original starring role in the National Grants Conferences infomercial
revealed last week, in which Congressman Hayworth pitched “free government money” for a shady company that ripped people off.

Hayworth responded to the revelation by coldly brushing off anyone who might have been scammed of our their money,
arguing that his own word can’t be trusted by saying,

“I always say about any product or service, one of the staples I learned growing up is ‘caveat emptor’ -- ‘buyer beware.’”

Hayworth further
said he had “no regrets” about filming the infomercial, saying, “It’s not something I’m ashamed of.”

Reaction to Hayworth’s first infomercial was swift and severe, with conservatives outraged that a candidate running as a fiscal hawk would shill for “free government money” in an obvious scam. Glenn Beck
has twice in the last week ripped into Hayworth and declared his U.S. Senate campaign “over.”

Conservatives at the
Wall Street Journal, National Review, Weekly Standard, and American Spectator have all blasted Congressman Hayworth.

McCain 2010 Communications Director Brian Rogers issued the following statement on the new Hayworth infomercial unearthed today:

“Congressman Hayworth used his title to hawk ‘free government money’ for personal profit for a company that ripped people off. When informed of the facts, Hayworth simply said, ‘buyer beware.’ When it comes to Congressman Hayworth, ‘voters beware.’”
