Governor Brewer qualifies in counties across Arizona from Cochise to Mohave
Phoenix – The support for Governor Jan Brewer continues to grow across the state of Arizona. In total, Brewer filed over 2,400 supplemental signatures today bringing the campaign final tally up to over 10,600 signatures. The support has poured in from all over Arizona, allowing Brewer to file enough signatures to qualify in far beyond the minimum mandatory three counties.
The support for Brewer spanned statewide in urban and rural counties from all areas. Brewer qualified in the state’s two most populated counties - Maricopa and Pima. In addition, in Southern Arizona, Brewer qualified in Yuma, Santa Cruz, and Cochise counties. In Northern Arizona, Brewer qualified in both Mohave and Yavapai counties. In Eastern Arizona, Brewer filed enough signatures to qualify in Gila, Graham, Greenlee, and Apache counties.
"We are proud to receive so much support statewide," said Campaign Co-Chair Mary Peters.
"People from every corner of the state are standing up in support of our Governor. She has been tough leader who has stood up for what is right, and the voters recognize her leadership."
Brewer, the only qualified candidate for Governor since February, filed petition signatures from every county in the state. Nationwide, she has received support for her tough stance on illegal immigration, receiving over 190,000 signatures on her online petition at JanBrewer.com and over 97,000 signatures on SupportTheBorder.org.
Today is the last day that candidates can turn in signatures to qualify for the August primary ballot. A handful of candidates are expected to file their signatures today to challenge Brewer for the Republican nomination.
"While we welcome anyone into the race, it is pretty clear that Governor Brewer is the class of this field," said Campaign Co-Chair Grant Woods. "The Governor has proven that she has a far superior grasp on the issues and the challenges facing the state of
Arizona than any of the other wannabe opponents."
