CASA GRANDE - Senator John McCain hosted a town hall meeting in Casa Grande Saturday to discuss his 10-point border security plan.

"The borders are broken, they have to be secured," McCain said.

The plan includes sending 3,000 National Guard troops to the US - Mexico line and finishing 700 miles of fencing.

"You go out and buy that alarm for your home, well, it's the same thing. Security should be important to this country so that we keep our freedoms and so we have to secure the border," said
Patrick Bray, deputy director of government affairs for the Arizona Cattlemen's Association.

Though the town hall focused on border security, McCain answered questions about Senate Bill 1070, which Governor Brewer signed into law Friday afternoon.

"I agree with the thrust of the bill, I have not read the details of it and I agree with their frustration and anger over the fact that there has not been significant and meaningful effort to secure our border."

Law enforcement also commented on their role in enforcing the new law.

"We're getting a lot of people that like to stir up the pot so to speak and they're using us as that platform," one officer said.

"I don't think the rhetoric about the racial profiling carries any weight at all," another officer said.
