I took a few minutes to look through a typical political conversation thread, but found not so much conversation as a series of incoherent rants on one side, with the second side side wasting energy trying to put the first side on any track that makes sense, right or wrong.

Again, the left appears to insist the Republicans are on the far right, which is far-and-away not the case. The typical Republican is a Centrist with a recognizable tilt leftward--but not anywhere near socialist, of course. If there were a small box in the middle of the road, marked Centrist, the Republican would be on the left inside the box, not to the left of the box itself. That left hook only means that each Republican has a sensitivity and a sympathy for one issue or another, but not serious enough to rock any boats over it. In other words, he can love his country more than himself, appreciate art, science, and leisure, while still understanding the ideas that defy the Left: absolute truth, non-political justice, and the transcendence of reality and logic over non sequitur outcomes. With the left, one issue is enough to unhinge them. Very few Republicans share the right with the Emperialists, the Monarchists, the Moral Majority or other religious groups. Whoever considered Nazis on the right should have his head examined; Hitler and Stalin shared common themes and were more alike than not--they were only competitors. Look at the belligerents on both sides in World War I, most of them were cousins. Note that our left loons call Republicans Nazis and use Hitler's name a lot as a terrible insult. But they do not use Stalin's name as an insult and if someone called them Stalinists, that name rolls of their backs like water off a duck. So, the Republican is very comfortable in his niche in the Center, with that slight lean away from the right. He can still sympathize with the poor and the physically and mentally handicapped, still love nature and animals, but not lugubriously so, and not to the detriment of his country or his fellow man; he would not put animals or trees ahead of humans, and would emphatically say "Drill" when it comes to making use of natural resources to disconnect us from foreign oil.

The left also accuses the right of harboring the anarchists. Actually, the anarchists are the spinoffs of the left; they believe in the destruction of society and its rules. The left believes that society must be destroyed and rebuilt by the left to only know what they know and believe what they believe. The new society should be subject to committees, whose decisions will be their only truths. Anarchists are expected to help with the destruction first, and then help with the reconstruction afterwards.

Leftists cannot seem to understand the problem with the Islamists because the left has only been trained to fight against anything from the right and they just cannot deal with enemies from the left. The Islamists see the American left as totally immoral; the left seems to be willing to sacrifice anything and anybody to the gods of abortion and pornography. Nothing else on earth seems to rise to that importance for them. For some reason, they see Gay Rights as giving strength to their issues of pornography. They see people to the right of them a non-permissive society, just the opposite of themselves (like junveniles hating their parents). In that light, how can they argue with some degree of reason when their reasoning process is somewhat askew--because they cannot admit to themselves that it all comes down to abortion and pronography. Certainly they fight against everything the Republicans are for and can build cases against those issues, but it is only transference. If there were no Republicans, and abortion and pornography were not in any way threatened, they would not see such stark evil in the competition. They know so little about the Islamists (and do not really care), they do not realize that Islamists want more and more babies to enter this world, regardless of whose they are, and they absolutely abhor pornography and the gay lifestyle! Because of Leftist ignorance, they will not join the cold-war-style battle for survival, and in fact, disrupt our efforts to do so. They expand this suicidal stupidity by dismantling the symbols of Christianity and Judaism in education and politics and encouraging the encroachment of the Star and Crescent.

Unless we change their way of thinking and our way of educating our children, we are not going to improve any more as a nation--we are dead in the water now--and our trying to debate with consummate arrogance will continue to be little more than a death spiral.
