SEAN HANNITY'S TAKE ON OBAMA'S FIRST 100 DAYS

Obama Marks 100 Days in Office... By Mocking Concerned Americans! by Bobby Eberle

April 30, 2009

>> Printer-Friendly Version

The longer this administration is in office, the less I am surprised about what they do. Obama is doing a full court press to break the bank and strap Americans with an incredible debt and tax burden. We see this happening every day. It is frightening to see an American president acting this way.

What is equally sickening is the way Obama expresses contempt for those who do not agree with him. He uses the bully pulpit to take shots at talk radio, dismisses legislators who disagree with him on principle, and now... now he is mocking the hundreds of thousands of Americans who turned out to protest runaway government spending. This shows a complete lack of class and is unbecoming an American president.

Today, I figured I'd be focusing on Obama's primetime love fest. On Wednesday evening, Obama held a press conference to mark his first 100 days in office, and he provided plenty of fodder to write a column. But, that can wait. Although the press conference revealed much about the nature of Obama and his policies (and the nature of the Washington press corps), what is even more revealing (and disturbing) is what happened earlier in the day.

It turns out, Obama just can't have a press conference to celebrate 100 days of "hey, look at me." He also has to throw in a townhall meeting in St. Louis where he has complete control over the situation. Rather that use it to simply push his agenda, he also used it to make fun of Fox News and the tea party protesters.

This is absolutely, positively outrageous! Obama is the president of the United States! He is supposed to represent the people... ALL the people. He is not the president of the "United States of Only Those People Who Agree With Me."

Hundreds of thousands of protesters turned out on tax day not only to protest taxes, but primarily to protest the massive government spending they are seeing. Obama has spent more in his first 100 days than President George W. Bush did in his entire first term.

How does Obama respond? Well, on the actual day of the protests, he ignored them. He didn't even acknowledge what was going on around him.
Now, he has taken that slap in the face and turned it into a punch in the gut! These are Americans whom he is mocking.... concerned American citizens and the president of the United States is spitting in their faces. Words cannot describe how pathetic his actions are. Is this how an American president is supposed to act? NO!!!

Even his shot at Fox News (which many will overlook), sends a message that he only cares about those elitists who agree with him. Fox News is, by far, the most watched cable news channel in the country. Just check out the
ratings for yesterday as an example. Fox News not only leads, it dominates.
There is only ONE way to lead in television ratings... by having more people watching. So again, by mocking Fox News, Obama is taking a swipe at all those who watch Fox News.

It is absolutely shocking that Obama speaks about bringing people together, but seeks to divide the country based on class or intellect or whatever tool he can use. How dare he!

Oh, and to raise my blood pressure even higher, I then found
CNN's coverage of Obama's pathetic comments. Just look at the opening paragraph:
President Obama has finally responded personally to the so-called "tea party" movement -- a move amongst some conservatives that criticizes the new administration's policies on taxes, spending, and borrowing during a national economic crisis.

So-called tea party movement? When 750 thousand protesters turn to the streets, doesn't that count as a real movement? Then... oh yes... the writer (CNN Associate Producer Martina Stewart) describes the protests as "a move amongst some conservatives." That statement right there shows that CNN has absolutely no concept of the people at the tea party protests. To simply label it as a movement of "some conservatives" is a way to divide. The tea party protests brought together Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. Speakers were booed if they attempted to become too partisan.

We all know where CNN stands, so I guess that is no real shock. But the comments of Obama on Wednesday should be heard by all. Every American should be outraged by this! The tea party protesters are first ignored, then mocked by their own president? What comes next?

Obama should apologize to the American people, and he
should do it now! He and his ilk already tried to diminish Joe the Plumber. He has already made fun of Special Olympics participants. Now, he is mocking the average working Americans who poured out to protest the actions of their government. Do you see a pattern?

Never before have I seen an American president actually make fun of people who are concerned about their country. Mr. Obama... America is more than the socialist elite that you hobnob with at the White House. Stop spitting in the face of hard-working Americans. If you let America be America, we can emerge from this recession just fine.

Independents Side with Republicans on Obama Budget and More
Published on April 29, 2009

Overview

This first Resurgent Republic survey of 1000 registered voters, conducted April 13-16, 2009, shows that President Obama remains quite popular, with 61 percent approving of his job performance and 32 percent disapproving so far.

That is comparable to President George W. Bush’s job approval of 62 to 29 percent in the Gallup Poll on April 20-22 of his first year in office. President Obama’s job approval is somewhat higher than both President Clinton’s (55 percent) and the first President Bush’s (58 percent) in April of their first year, but lower than President Reagan’s in April after the attempt on his life (67 percent).

A wide partisan gap of 67 points exists in President Obama’s job approval, with 92 percent of Democrats approving versus only 25 percent of Republicans. Independents fall exactly between Democrats and Republicans on this measure, with 59 percent approving of the President’s job performance. Independent support for the President is a key indicator to monitor.

This survey verifies that America remains a center-right country. Voters prefer a smaller government with lower taxes over a larger government with higher taxes by a three-to-one margin. By a two-to-one margin, they think government should promote opportunity by fostering job growth, encouraging entrepreneurs, and allowing
people to keep more of what they earn, rather than promote fairness by narrowing the gap between rich and poor, spreading the wealth, and making sure that economic outcomes are more equal.

Not surprisingly, concerns about the economy eclipse all others right now, with 57 percent citing it as the most important issue facing the United States.

A majority of voters opposes President Obama’s proposed $3.6 trillion budget with its $1.4 trillion deficit, even as they believe he is responding to problems he inherited. They are deeply skeptical about the amount of money Mr. Obama proposes for the government to spend, tax, and borrow for bailouts and other spending programs that produce few private sector jobs.Independents, who hold the balance of power in this electorate, are closer to Republicans than to Democrats on these fiscal issues. Moreover, 84 percent of voters think the maximum federal income tax rate should be below its current rate of 35 percent, with more than two-thirds believing the maximum rate should be 20 percent or lower.

Republicans are on favorable ground resisting the amount of spending, taxing, and borrowing in the President’s proposed budget and will draw independents away from Mr. Obama’s camp by doing so.

As is often the case however, the more liberal argument fares better when it comes to specific spending proposals. Mention of education, energy, and health care “investment” to bring the country out of recession is more resonant than the argument that this Administration is taking advantage of the recession to make massive increases in government spending that will hurt our economy in the future by nearly tripling our debt.

On the debate over climate change, a substantial majority of American voters, including an overwhelming majority of independents, thinks climate change is happening and human activity is a significant cause. However, they think addressing the problem with any proposal that could raise energy prices during a severe recession is a bad idea. Recognizing that climate change is a problem is important, but voters want a solution that strengthens rather than hurts the economy. Cap-and-trade advocates have made significant progress on the “green jobs” argument. Those opposed to cap-and-trade will need to make a more persuasive case that such policies will shift more jobs abroad than they will create at home, and that the onus of the cost will fall on consumers rather than companies. Voters are dead set against a bait-and-switch strategy that would justify higher prices for gasoline and electricity to pay for health care reform.

An overwhelming majority of American voters supports President Obama’s decision to send 17,000 additional troops and 4,000 more trainers to Afghanistan, even though 41 percent of Democrats are opposed. Sixty-three percent of independents and 71 percent of Republicans back President Obama on this issue.

On the other hand, a strong majority believes the Guantanamo Bay prison helps protect America rather than undermines our moral authority. Independents are, again, much more like Republicans than Democrats on this issue. As is seen repeatedly in public opinion research, national security remains the Republicans’ strongest relative advantage over the Democrats and a major issue on which independents and Republicans hold similar views.

One social issue tested was the proposal to repeal conscience clause regulations that allow health care providers and workers to refrain from engaging in practices that are legal but personally morally objectionable, including abortion. Overwhelmingly (61 percent), voters believe “health care workers should not be required to perform procedures they oppose on moral grounds, such as abortions.”

President Obama is personally popular, enjoying a 61 to 32 percent favorable-unfavorable rating that is driven by an identical rating among independents. Congressional Democrats and Republicans fare less well however, particularly among independents, with “Democrats in Congress” having a 45 to 42 percent favorable-unfavorable rating (39 to 45 percent among independents), and “Republicans in Congress” having a 37 to 47 percent favorable-unfavorable rating (32 to 47 percent among independents).

Republicans have far more to work with in the current environment than many suspect. The key to rebuilding a majority coalition is regaining the support of independents. Particularly on the overall philosophy of government and on national security, Republicans show signs of gaining ground.

RNC Money Grab Helps Steele's Image from Fox News

A resurgence of new and newly energized, individual small donors has encouraged the Republican National Committee and shown Michael Steele's ability to helm the party purse.

A resurgence of new and newly energized, individual small donors has encouraged the Republican National Committee, which demonstrated its long-held ability to raise big money in the first quarter of this year despite a tough go of it in the last two election cycles.

The new figures also are good news to Michael Steele, who was criticized early in his young chairmanship for being more show than go.

The RNC raised $6.7 million in March, up from $5.26
million in February, and has no debt. In all, it had $23.9
million cash on hand in the first quarter of 2009.

RNC spokesman Trevor Francis said donors gave on average $55 each.
"Small donors are the lifeblood of a political party," Francis said.

The Democratic National Committee raised $5.57 million in
March, plus $2 million handed over from President Obama's campaign. It raised $6.6 million in February, and is
$6.9 million in debt after the first quarter of 2009.

So why the GOP success in filling its coffers? Republicans say their supporters are angry over the Obama administration's policies while Democrats attribute donor fatigue to their supporters after a half-trillion dollar presidential campaign year in 2008.

"Obama broke every record in existence and people are not in the mood to be giving money, because pretty much if you were a Democrat, you gave money in the last cycle," said Democratic strategist Kirsten Powers.

"Democrats are Republicans' best fundraisers," Francis
said. "I think to the degree that they continue their wrong course of more taxing and more spending I think our grassroots donors will continue to remain engaged."

The numbers also reflect well on Steele, who took over the RNC at the end of January and had a bit of a rough start, particularly wading into the areas of abortion and how to appeal to minority voters. Detractors suggested he was more of a showman than a fundraiser.

Steele told FOXNews.com that the earnings give the message the party isn't in the wilderness, which is "very, very important right now." He said he hopes the numbers signal confidence in his leadership.

"I don't put it all on one person and certainly there are a lot of people who are out there who have been very much involved in that process. But I think coming in the door, you know, we shook it up a little bit.
We've got some folks back on their heels. We took a few shots. Look, I got people talking about the party, 'Who is this crazy chairman?' You know, 'What are these guys doing?' That's good. We're saying something other than the party is in this lost place," Steele said.

Political analysts agree that Steele has surprised the pundit class.

"Michael Steele is more than just someone who can give a good speech. He can clearly raise a lot of money and has been," said Jeff Birnbaum, author of "The Money Men" and a FOX News contributor.

While Democrats say they haven't turned up the fundraising machinery just yet, both parties want to be in good financial shape for the year, with two gubernatorial races in the fall and 2010 midterms just around the corner. That's when 36 governorships, the entire House and one-third of the Senate are up for grabs.

OBAMA SOWS SEEDS OF DEMISE By DICK MORRIS

Published on
TheHill.com on April 28, 2009

When the Obama administration crashes and burns, with approval ratings that fall through the floor, political scientists can trace its demise to its first hundred days.

While Americans are careful not to consign a presidency they desperately need to succeed to the dustbin of history, the fact is that this president has moved -- on issue after issue -- in precisely the opposite direction of what the people want him to do.

Right now, Obama's ratings must be pleasing to his eye. Voters like him and his wife immensely and approve of his activism in the face of the economic crisis. While polls show big doubts about what he is doing, the overwhelming sense is to let him have his way and pray that it works.

But beneath this superficial support, Obama's specific policies run afoul of the very deeply felt convictions of American voters. For example, the most recent Rasmussen Poll asked voters if they wanted an economic system of complete free enterprise or preferred more government involvement in managing the economy. By 77-19, they voted against a government role, up seven points from last month.

And in the Fox News poll -- the very same survey that gave Obama a 62 percent approval rating and reported that 68 percent of voters are "satisfied" with his first hundred days -- voters, by 50-38, supported a smaller government that offered fewer services over a larger government that provided more.
By 42-8, the Fox News poll (conducted on April 22-23) found that voters felt Obama ha
d expanded government rather than contracted it (42 percent said it was the same size) and, by 46-30, reported believing that big government was more of a danger to the nation than big business. (By 50-23, they said Obama felt big business was more dangerous.)

By 62-20, they said government spending, under Obama, was "out of control."So if voters differ so fundamentally with the president on the very essence of his program, why do they accord him high ratings? They are like the recently married bride who took her vows 100 days ago. It would be a disaster for her life if she decides that she really doesn't like her husband. But she keeps noticing things about him that she can't stand. It will be a while before she walks out the door or even comes to terms with her own doubts, but it is probably inevitable that she will.

For Americans to conclude that they disapprove of their president in the midst of an earth-shaking crisis is very difficult. But as Obama's daily line moves from "I inherited this mess" to "There are faint signs of light," the clock starts ticking. If there is no recovery for the next six months -- and I don't think there will be -- Obama
will inevitably become part of the problem, not part of the solution.

And then will come his heavy lifting. He has yet to raise taxes, regiment healthcare or provide amnesty for illegal immigrants. He hasn't closed down the car companies he now runs and he has not yet forced a 50 percent hike in utility bills with his cap-and-trade legislation. These are all the goodies he has in store for us all.

Obama's very activism these days arrogates to himself the blame for the success or failure of his policies. Their outcome will determine his outcome, and there is no way it will be positive.

Why?

• You can't borrow as much as he will need to without raising interest rates that hurt the economy;

• The massive amount of spending will trigger runaway inflation once the economy starts to recover;

• His overhaul of the tax code (still in the planning phases) and his intervention in corporate management will create such business uncertainty that nobody will invest in anything until they see the lay of the land;

• His bank program is designed to help banks, but not to catalyze consumer lending. And his proposal for securitization of consumer loans won't work and is just what got us into this situation. So Mr. Obama should enjoy his poll numbers while he may.

Goldwater Institute: Arizona Attorney General abandons one campaign finance regulation

Arizona Attorney General abandons one campaign finance regulation by Nick Dranias

The Goldwater Institute scored a victory for free speech last week when the Arizona Attorney General abandoned a campaign finance regulation.

Responding to a cease and desist letter written by the Goldwater Institute on March 26, the Arizona
Attorney General said, "[i]n light of the Supreme Court's decision in Davis v. FEC ... our office does not intend to enforce the provisions of current A.R.S. § 16-905(f)."

The state law in question required self-financed candidates for public office who spent above a certain threshold to file reports that triggered an increase in contribution limits for their opponents.

The Attorney General's quick concession recognized the implications of the recent decision by the United States Supreme Court in Davis v. F.E.C. In Davis, the Supreme Court held that the goal of leveling electoral opportunities could not justify campaign finance regulations whereby "the vigorous exercise of the right to use personal funds to finance campaign speech produces fundraising advantages for opponents."

But the battle for free speech in elections is not over. Despite two preliminary court orders declaring the matching funds provisions of the Clean Elections Act unconstitutional under Davis, the Attorney General has not conceded in a pending federal lawsuit filed in 2008 by the Goldwater Institute.

The Arizona Clean Elections Act violates the First Amendment when it equalizes contributions raised by privately funded candidates by showering matching taxpayer dollars on candidates participating in the Clean Elections system. Davis ruled that such schemes restrict freedom of speech and cannot be justified by the goal of leveling the financial playing field between candidates.

The Goldwater Institute expects a final decision in that lawsuit within months.

Nick Dranias holds the Goldwater Institute Clarence J. and Katherine P. Duncan chair for constitutional government and is the director of the Institute's Dorothy D. and Joseph A. Moller Center for Constitutional Government.

And guess who can determine, on some basis not releasable to the public, that you are not 100 percent with respect to your mental health and consequently are not subject to Second Amendment protection? And guess who will be tossing that old Greener shotgun your grandfather left you into a scrap bin next to that cherished Luger your dad brought back from Germany after WWII?

Yep, crude rubes whose patriotism, honor, and morality do not rise to the level of a pimple on your grandfather’s backside will be mishandling parts of your heritage and disrespecting weapons from an age in which their kind would never survive. I have often heard the lament that “the lunatics are ruling the asylum.” To our great regret, things have gotten much worse. The lunatics, it would seem, are ruling Congress.

TRAITOR ARLEN SPECTER BECOMES A DEMOCRAT

Arlen Specter, longtime RINO, switched parties today and became a Democrat. Sphincter, oops I mean Specter, was running 21 points behind former PA Rep. PAT TOOMEY for the 2010 Republican Nomination for Senate.

Here is the statement from PAT TOOMEY who WILL BE the next US Senator from PA:

Former Congressman Pat Toomey (R) just released the following statement on Sen. Arlen Specter's (Pa.) decision to switch parties.

Pat Toomey's Response to Senator Specter's Party Switch

APRIL 28, 2009:
"Senator Specter's decision is in keeping with his record. He is more at home in the Democratic Party than the Republican Party. That has been true for decades, not just true today.

In recent weeks, Senator Specter has made numerous statements about how important it is to deny Democrats the 60th seat in the U.S. Senate and how he categorically intended to remain a Republican to prevent one-party dominance in Washington.

What Pennsylvanians must now ask themselves is whether Senator Specter is in fact devoted to any principle other than his own reelection."

Toomey is running for Specter's Senate seat. He was slated to challenge Specter in the GOP primary, as he did in 2004, and will now likely face him in the general election.

Here is RNC Chairman MICHAEL STEELE'S response to Sphincter :

Good Riddens to this Jackass! This is the Moron who came up with the
'Magic Bullet' theory when President Kennedy was killed.

Sphincter is about to get his LIBERAL ass kicked. The people of PA & the United States will rejoice once this putz is defeated. I will say it now: PAT TOOMEY will win by 20%!!!

PULLEN: SEN. SPECTER SAW THE WRITING ON THE WALL

Phoenix, AZ – In an ironic twist, the Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party today lauded Senator Arlen Specter’s pronouncement that he will defect from the Republican Party to run as a Democrat in next year’s mid-term elections. According to published reports, Senator Arlen Specter has issued a statement outlining his plans to run as a Democrat in the 2010 elections.

“While I am disappointed that we have temporarily lost a Republican member of the Senate, the truth is Senator Specter saw the writing on wall,” said Chairman Pullen. “His support of President Obama’s economic plans for the redistribution of wealth and saddling our children and grandchildren with trillions of dollars of debt placed him at odds with his own party. Many recent polls have indicated that Senator Specter’s votes for the $787 billion stimulus, the Wall Street and automotive bailouts and support of card-check legislation have severely damaged his credibility among Republicans.”

In late March, a Quinnipiac University poll showed Senator Specter trailing Republican Representative Pat Toomey by double digits, 41-27. To make matters worse for the Senator, only 29% of Pennsylvania Republicans gave Specter a favorable rating, while 60% of Democrats gave him the highest ratings amongst voters, including independents.

“The defection of Mr. Specter further locks down any checks
and balances in America until we have a chance to make important changes in 2010,” said Bruce Ash, National Committeeman for Arizona. “Today’s news should give Republicans and all Arizonans another reason to become party activists, get our word out and help our Republican candidates in 2010.”

“We shouldn’t be too surprised to learn of the Senator’s ploy to get reelected, it’s been rumored for quite awhile,” said Chairman Pullen. “Rather than explain his unwavering support of Congress’ radical tax and spending initiatives, he joined his Democrat buddies in a weak attempt to save his political hide. But I would warn Democrat voters in Pennsylvania that Senator Specter is apparently more concerned with his own political survival rather than representing those who voted him into office.”

Governor Brewer Convenes State Swine Flu Team

Reviews Response Plans with Key Cabinet Officials

Phoenix – Governor Jan Brewer met late yesterday with senior staff and cabinet officials to evaluate the State of Arizona’s enhanced monitoring of potential cases of Swine Flu, as well as to review preparedness plans in the event that cases are confirmed in Arizona.

“I convened a meeting this afternoon of my top cabinet officials involved with monitoring and coordinating our preparedness and response plans for any potential outbreak of Swine Flu in Arizona,” stated Brewer. “To date, no cases of Swine Flu have been identified in Arizona. However, the State Lab and local clinicians have enhanced their surveillance to identify any Arizona cases quickly and have reviewed plans for appropriate response if cases are identified in the future.”

Governor Brewer has received frequent situational briefings beginning last Friday and over the weekend regarding ongoing communications between state and federal public health experts and homeland security officials. In specific, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Homeland Security departments have provided continuous informational updates to the State of Arizona regarding federal travel advisories, international health expert updates, as well as efforts to disseminate 25% of the federal stockpile of antiviral drugs. Arizona has applied for and will receive additional stockpiles of antiviral medications from the federal government, adding to the State’s previously acquired stockpile. Per federal requirements, the stockpiles are restricted for treatment purposes of identified illnesses only.

This afternoon’s meeting included top officials from:

· Arizona Department of Health Services
· Arizona Department of Homeland Security
· Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs
· Arizona Department of Public Safety
· Arizona Department of Agriculture
· Arizona Department of Education
· Arizona Department of Transportation
· Arizona-Mexico Commission

The Arizona Department of Health Services has been in communication with healthcare providers, counties, tribes, medical associations, hospitals, and emergency departments with disease summary, infection control, treatment and testing recommendations.

According to the CDC, Swine Flu symptoms are similar to those of the common human influenza (flu) virus – fever, cough, sore throat, headache, etc.

“Arizona’s public health officials are prepared to respond should Swine Flu cases be discovered in Arizona, and will remain vigilant in monitoring for this illness. It is very important that citizens take basic, common sense precautions to avoid close contact with people who are ill,” said Governor Brewer. “Washing your
hands often with soap and water or utilizing hand sanitizers is helpful in preventing the spread of these types of illnesses. If you experience flu symptoms, please stay in bed, get rest, and drink plenty of fluids. If you are concerned about your symptoms, see your doctor.”
