The McCain Update - October 13, 2007

John McCain was in Dearborn, Michigan earlier this week at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center for the most recent Republican debate. This debate focused on economics and covered issues from taxes and spending to healthcare and the state of our economy.

John McCain had a strong performance, clearly stating his views on issues critical to voters. He was called "Reaganesque" by Steve Moore, the founder of the Club for Growth and editorial writer for the Wall Street Journal. Click here to watch post-debate reaction.

While in Michigan, John McCain also had the opportunity to speak to the Detroit Economic Club and discussed his economics plan. On Thursday in Des Moines, John McCain unveiled his healthcare plan which focuses on lowering costs, freedom of choice and market forces rather than the government mandated plans so favored by Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney while he was Governor of Massachusetts.

This week, John McCain announced his plans to reform healthcare in our country. Wall Street Journal Editorial: McCain's Medicine"[M]r. McCain followed up with a health-care reform announced in Iowa yesterday, perhaps recapturing the aura of political creativity that animated his Presidential bid in 2000 ... The senator's views are panoramic, and he's looking at a health-care landscape grounded in free-market principles. ... Mr. McCain has largely predicated his candidacy on national security, but his entrance into the health-care fray solidifies the intellectual progress conservatives have made on the issue."
