The ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS defeated the Chicago Cubs last night by a score of 3 - 1 to take a 1 -0 lead in the best of 5 NL Division Playoffs. D-Backs Ace BRANDON WEBB pitched 7 strong innings; set up man BRANDON LYON pitched a scoreless 8th inning and JOSE "Papa Grande" VALVERDE got the save.
In the 4th Inning, SS STEVEN DREW hit a solo HR to give the D-Backs the lead. After the Cubs tied the score in the 6th, 3B MARK RENYOLDS hit the game winning HR in the 7th. The D-Backs added an insurance run on a Sacrifice Fly in the same inning.
KUDOS to the D-Backs Fans (48,864 which included many Cubs fans) who drowned out the Cubs fans who attended the game.
Lefty DOUG DAVIS goes tonight for the D-Backs.
