BILL KONOPNICKI to announce Exploratory Committee for CD-1 Run on Thursday Sept 27th



Rep. BILL KONOPNICKI, (R) LD-5 will announce his Exploratory Committee for the CD-1 US House of Representatives on Thursday September 27, 2007. In the State Legislature since 2003, he offers the best chance for Republicans to retain this seat held currently by Rep. Rick Renzi.

Bill was born in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest of three children. His Konopnicki grandparents were from Poland and moved to America so their children and grandchildren could be born in a free land. His father was from Michigan and his mother from North Carolina. His family moved to Yuma, Arizona when he was 5 years old.


His family owned and operated Stan's Grocery and Laundry in Yuma for more than 35 years. He learned at an early age the value of hard work. This work ethic has helped him in all of his endeavors. He graduated from Kofa High School and attended Arizona Western College, a community college in Yuma County, Arizona. He has a BA and MA in Business Education from Arizona State University and an EdD in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arizona.Bill has worked for Tucson Public Schools, Pima Community College, The University of Arizona, Eastern Arizona College and The Arizona Department of Education.


He served on the Safford Public School's Governing Board for 12 years. He was an educational consultant for Oklahoma State University and the California Department of Education.


Bill has been a successful small businessman for the past 29 years. He owns and operates: McDonald's restaurants with his oldest son, radio stations, and currently is CEO of WSK Management Systems. He is involved in community affairs and has worked with community groups, including the Boy Scouts, Ronald McDonald Houses and The Boys and Girls Clubs. He has also served as a member of the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center's Operating Board and is a past president.


A resident of Safford for 35 years, Bill is the father of four children, all of whom have been educated in public school. Bill is also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren. He makes his home in Safford with his wife, Cathy, who is a School Psychologist, and their daughter, Sara.Bill is a strong voice for rural Arizona. He has worked on many issues that impact rural Arizonans. He has been a leader in protecting Small Business, health care issues, retiree issues and providing necessary services while keeping taxes down.

Contributions to Bill Konopnicki Exploratory Committee are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes. The maximum an individual may contribute is $2,300 per election. Couples may contribute $4,600 from a joint account and both must sign the check. Contributions from corporations and foreign nationals without a “green card” are not permitted under federal law. Federal law requires us to obtain and report the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer for each individual whose contributions aggregate in excess of $200 in a calendar year.
