More Endorsements Pile Up In Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina

The campaign announced the endorsement of Greenville, SC Mayor Knox White. "U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that Greenville Mayor Knox White will support the Arizona Senator's presidential candidacy. "'Our nation's next president must be a common sense conservative leader who has the courage and character to offer up the tough solutions, even when they may not be politically expedient,' said White. 'John McCain's service, experience, and commitment to our conservative cause make him the best qualified to lead our nation as we face the challenges of tomorrow.'"

At the Polls

The early months of 2007 have had a record number of polls released. Some weeks we see as many as five or six publicly released surveys with data related to the presidential race. With that in mind, two organizations provided in-depth analysis of the data they have released over the last several months: Cook Political Report and Gallup Poll Review.

In short, they find:

John McCain has maintained a consistent position in the polls since the start of the year. He is virtually tied for the lead in the Cook poll and second in both Gallup and a recent Fox News poll.
The race is fluid and the introduction of new candidates and major events will shake things up fairly dramatically - because voters haven't made firm decisions.
John McCain is well-positioned against the leading Democrats - with broad-based support among voters in both parties and independents
