Supporters Laud McCain Candidacy

Tout Leadership And Experience

Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) said, "I think you would have to concede that Senator McCain probably has more experience than all of the other candidates put together. He really began his adult life in the service of his country and he has never stopped. Much of that has been oriented toward national security matters, and especially in recent years, where we know how important that is in a leader, Senator McCain has demonstrated his ability to lead in that area, even in areas where it is politically unpopular. You want that kind of a leader." - Watch Fox News' "Fox News Live"
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said, "At the end of the day, I do believe that the Republican Party is going to choose the most conservative candidate they can find, who's electable in November 2008, who can be commander-in-chief, who can lead our party back to where we need to be when it comes to spending. At the end of the day, John is the most reliably conservative candidate available who can win a general election who has the credibility and credentials to be commander-in-chief... I wouldn't trade places with anybody in the field." -

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) said, "I think [McCain] has got the leadership and the experience and he has always believed that country comes first before personal ambition and I think that is going to be his theme throughout the campaign." -

Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) said, "I think he is the real deal. I think when you review the records of all of them, you'll see he is the conservative in the race. But most importantly, I think he is right on the critical issue of our time, which is the fight against the radical jihadists." -

John McCain Receives Praise On Announcement
Fox News' Mort Kondracke said, "I thought McCain's announcement speech was the best of all the announcement speeches made this year... It was Reaganesque in places, it was optimistic about how America can conquer any problem that it faces if it puts its mind to it. It was really quite eloquent in places... I think that it is a good beginning to the campaign." - Watch Fox News' "Special Report"

Bret Hovell of ABC News reports, "[M]cCain sounded an optimistic tone Wednesday. 'You can't sell me on hopelessness,' he said. 'You can't convince me our problems are insurmountable. Our challenges are an opportunity to write another chapter of American greatness.'"- Entire story available at abcnews.com

CNN's Tony Harris said, "[John McCain] will get this opportunity to tell his story, and what a story it is, the strong personal narrative, Fred, of a life well lived, really, of this compelling personal biography, John McCain as courageous P.O.W., war hero during Vietnam, and, you know, this reputation that we have come, many of us have come to enjoy, this reputation of being an independent thinker and speaker." - Watch CNN's "Your World Today"

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough reports, "[T]aken in its entirety, John McCain's 25 years in Congress show him to be the most consistent major candidate in the race for the Republican nomination. He is far more consistent and conservative on guns, abortion and gay marriage... And when it comes to being conservative with taxpayers' dollars, McCain stands in a league of his own." - Entire story available at msnbc.msn.com

If John McCain gives America the same kind of dirty tricks and secretive government that Mayor Mary Clark has given James Island, this country is in for serious trouble. Ms Clark is very adept at wrapping herself up in the flag and groveling for political credibility by trying to affiliate herself with true heroes like McCain. The good Senator deserves better friends.
