Prop 205 - Your Right to Vote
I was surfing the net when I came upon one of the ballot propositions on our November 7th ballot. Your Right to Vote is the propostion that will have Arizona voters voting via mail. I did some investigating on this and found that the Oregon Vote byMail Program has been very successful. By going to vote by mail, Oregon has saved on average $ 3 million per election. If this is enacted in Arizona, the average savings will be between $ 6-7 million per cycle. That's a lot of $$$.
Some of the supporters of this proposition include Barry Goldwater Jr former Congressman, Ron Drake candidate for CD-8 US House & former mayor of Avondale, & Doug Martin AZ State Mine Inspector, conservative Republicans all. Prop 205 will bring a higher voter turnout, Oregon went from 20% (just where AZ just was for the recent Primary) to over 65% turnout. Bringing more voters INTO the process is a good thing. The only people who don't like this are Incumbent Politicians; afraid they might lose their jobs. I think it would be marvelous to have more people involved in politics....
