A Few Spots Remaining for Wednesday's Tour

There are still a few more spots open for Wednesday's tour of the Fire Department Training Facility. This unique opportunity will provide an up close look at how our fire fighters train. Sunday Road Closures for P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

Please remember that this Sunday, January 20, there will be a number of road closures and alternate routes as a result of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon taking place throughout the city. Closures begin at 4:00 a.m. in the downtown Phoenix area and end at Sky Harbor Airport around noon. Please make sure to plan accordingly. Teach English in Japan

Are you looking for an exciting new career opportunity this year that takes you to another country? Phoenix Sister Cities is seeking college graduates who would like to live and work in Phoenix's sister city of Himeji, Japan, during the 2013-2014 school year. The assistant language teachers will work as assistants to Japanese instructors, teaching English at the junior high school level. Applicants must be a college graduate, resident of Maricopa county and speak fluent English. The deadline to apply is February 8. Military Family Appreciation Night

Storytime at Phoenix Libraries

For parents and child care providers looking for a healthy activity for young children check out the different storytime's available at each of the Phoenix library branches. These interactive, educational events are fun for adults and kids and even offer the chance to meet some new friends. Acacia and Mesquite Library, both located in District 3, offer babytime, family storytime, toddler time, and more. Go to phoenixpubliclibrary.org to learn more.

Washington Elementary School District Business Advisory Team

Last year, the Washington Elementary School District Business Advisory Team was formed in an effort to develop, enhance, and maintain mutually supportive, strategic relationships between the school district and its surrounding business community. These meetings have been very successful and their attendance proves how interested the community is in maintaining and growing this partnership. For the upcoming meeting they are pleased to have Lattie Coor as their guest speaker. Dr. Coor served as president of Arizona State University from 1990-2002. This meeting is open to the general public but your RSVP is requested.
