A former Mayor and Town Council Member, Vernon Parker is an NRCC Young Gun who is running for Congress in Arizona's new Ninth Congressional District. Raised by his grandmother in a severely underprivileged neighborhood, Parker was able to escape the drugs and violence of his environment through love, education, and hard work. While attending law school at Georgetown University, Parker met his wife, Lisa, a native of Phoenix. The two eventually moved to the Phoenix area to raise their children, Sonya and Ian, after Parker completed his law degree and service in the administration of President George H.W. Bush. Phoenix, AZ – In an amazing show of support and confidence, House Speaker John Boehner personally selected Republican Congressional candidate Vernon Parker to give this morning's Weekly Republican Address.

In selecting Vernon, Speaker Boehner called him "a rising star… committed to … restoring the American Dream."

Parker was the first Congressional candidate selected to give the address – an honor many sitting Congressmen have never had.

In today's address, Vernon focused on his priorities for Arizona and America – primarily getting Americans back to work. He was able to preview his jobs plan, which will be released this coming week. He was also able to tell his story – a story of a man who truly understands what it means to never quit.
