August 14,
2012 – Arizona Statewide – Long-time Arizona
civic leader Bill Konopnicki is undergoing some serious health issues and is
awaiting transplant surgery. Bill’s friends and supporters from throughout the
state have joined United Blood Services to designate several blood donation
locations throughout the state that are accepting donations in his honor. You
can show your support for Bill, and other patients like him, by donating blood.
While your donation may not go directly to Bill, you will know that your
generous gift has provided a lifesaving transfusion for a patient in their time
of need. To make an
appointment to give blood in honor of Bill Konopnicki, call 1-877-UBS-HERO (1-877-827-4376) toll free or visit wwWBloodHero.com (enter the Zip Code for the desired donation
location – All Arizona locations listed below).
Bill Konopnicki is
one of the strongest, most dedicated leaders in Arizona history. Through his
eight years of service as a member of the Arizona House of Representatives, his
service as Stake President for the LDS Church and his role on the Safford Public
Schools Governing Board, Mount Graham Regional Medical Center's Operating Board
and in numerous other organizations, Bill has generously offered his leadership,
expertise and business acumen to benefit the people of Arizona. His commitment
to education and small business and his service to community, church and the
State of Arizona have had a tremendously positive impact on Arizona and its
citizens. Bill has been an Arizona resident since he was five years old,
growing up in Yuma where his family owned and operated Stan’s Grocery and
Laundry for more than 35 years. After graduating from Yuma’s Kofa High School,
he received his BA and MA Degrees from Arizona State University and his Ed D
from the University of Arizona. Bill currently resides in Safford, Arizona
where he has lived for more than 35 years.
Desert Ridge Justice
Court Judge Clancy Jayne is leading the effort with United Blood Services to ask
residents statewide to donate blood as a tribute. “Arizonans giving blood in
his honor extend a gesture of support and encouragement for Bill that also saves
the lives of patients in hospitals across our great state,” emphasized
Judge Jayne. “Donating blood is a
wonderful tribute and it saves lives.”
