Mesa, Ariz. – Mesa Mayor Scott Smith today announced his endorsement of Bob Worsley, Mesa businessman, SkyMall founder, and Republican candidate for the open state senate seat in District 25.
“I have known Bob Worsley for over 30 years. I have worked with him and been his partner in business. Because of this, I know Bob is the right person to represent Mesa in the Arizona Senate. Rarely do you find a candidate like Bob who has extensive real world business experience and leadership skills. That wealth of experience will help Bob to create practical solutions for complicated problems,” said Mayor Smith. “I’m looking forward to working with Bob when he’s the next senator from Mesa as we focus on creating jobs and making Mesa and Arizona the best places to live and work.”
Scott Smith is also an experienced businessman who was a first time political candidate when he was elected as Mayor of Mesa in May 2008. Smith has often been praised for his leadership and the city's accomplishments during his term as mayor. The Arizona Republic named Mayor Smith the city’s MVP, stating that, “Smith is restoring Mesa to its rightful place as a regional leader. He has strengthened ties with several cities and has gained the confidence of many skeptical residents. The change is so marked that we shudder to think what shape the city would be in without him at the helm.”
“Scott has done a great job as Mayor of Mesa and is proof of how business savvy citizens can give back in civic service to Arizona and our home city of Mesa,” says Bob Worsley. “Scott was the smartest kid in my BYU accounting classes and was similarly a star at Price Waterhouse when we were there together. We started a CPA firm together and he was my first sounding board when I founded SkyMall. We find it ironic that we have a chance to work together once more to make Mesa the envy of our great state again.”
