CONGRESSMAN BEN QUAYLE DEMANDS END TO HOLDER'S FAST TALK AND FURIOUS DECEPTION

Rep. Ben Quayle Demands an end to Holder's Fast Talk and Furious Deception

WASHINGTON (DC) Congressman Ben Quayle issued the following statement after his introduction of H.Res. 532 to the House of Representatives. H.Res. 532 calls for a special prosecutor to investigate Operation "Fast and the Furious"-a disastrous Justice Department program which attempted to 'walk' high powered weapons to criminals as a way of tracing their whereabouts:

"It has been more than a year since the tragic death of Brian
Terry-a United States Border Patrol agent who was gunned down in the line of duty using a weapon that was part of Operation 'Fast and Furious'. Since that time, Attorney General Holder and other Justice Department officials have used the tactics of delay, denial and obfuscation to avoid accountability for this tragically failed operation.

"Even now, as new evidence comes to light that officials at the most senior levels of the Justice Department were aware of this Operation, Attorney General Holder continues to deny knowledge.

"It is time for a thorough, independent investigation by a special prosecutor to find out who knew about this operation and when, as well as who authorized it. By all appearances, Attorney General Holder is guilty of either gross negligence, or catastrophic
incompetence. If he had no part in this disastrous operation as he claims, he should welcome this opportunity to clear the air.

"I urge the House to act with me in calling for the President to appoint a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of 'Fast and Furious'. We need to make sure those responsible are held accountable so this doesn't happen again."
