Former Arizona Governor Fife Symington Endorses

Maria Syms for Paradise Valley Mayor

(Paradise Valley, AZ) Today, Maria Syms announced that former Arizona Governor Fife Symington has endorsed her candidacy for Mayor.

"As an attorney, Maria Syms has a track record of fighting for the taxpayers, and I believe as Mayor, she will work diligently to eliminate government waste, bureaucracy and needless taxation," said Governor Fife Symington. "Paradise Valley needs a strong fiscal conservative, not a Mayor who raises taxes during an economic recession. Maria Syms is the best person for the job and I ask the voters to join me in supporting her for Mayor."

"It's an honor to have the endorsement of Governor Fife Symington," said Maria Syms. "I am grateful to have the support of someone who has done so much for the State of Arizona and someone who always fought for the best interests of the taxpayers. He shares my belief that raising taxes in tough economic times is wrong."

Maria Syms is an accomplished attorney, civic leader and mother of three. She and her husband Mark came to Paradise Valley in 2002, falling in love with the open space, desert beauty and small town community. She was appointed to the Paradise Valley Planning Commission by the Town Council in 2003 and has served ever since, having been twice reappointed by the Council. In 2010, Syms was unanimously elected Chairperson of the Commission. She was most recently honored by another unanimous election as Chairperson.
