In District 1, the policy differences between incumbent Thelda Williams and challenger Eric Frederick are slight. The race is more about tone and experience. In both respects, Williams is the better choice.
She has served two stints on the City Council, so she understands how the system works. She understands how to build alliances to promote her ideas. And she recognizes when a course correction is needed, as with her recent crusade to end the grocery sales tax.
Frederick would bring energy and a fresh view, but if their votes ultimately would mostly be the same, District 1 is better served by Williams and her experience.
