Just as we predicted, the local & national media are looking into the Tom Morrissey 'story'. In the coming days this might well become a national story!
The phones have been ringing off the hook! The e-mails have been flooding in. All about Saturday's "election" of the new AZ GOP Chairman.
The Grand Pooba of the Wackos, ROB HANEY, got his 50th or so choice TOM MORRISSEY voted in as the next Chairman.
Fellow Blogger Shane Wikfors from the Sonoran Alliance had this 'prediction' BEFORE the election:
"Morrissey wins: All the “moderate” Republican businessmen who shun TEA Party people will pull their money out of the party and try to starve it into submission. Big donors who had been waiting to contribute to a new chairman who “avoids controversial positions” will not donate to the new leadership. Instead, they will reroute their money through a “auxiliary party” much like what we saw during the 2010 election cycle in which they ran money through Yuma County. The new leadership will struggle to make ends meet and may even suspend or shut down operations. (This happened in Pima County in the early 90′s) Ultimately: More factionalism and fighting."

Mr. Wifkors has that right!
Clint Bolick from the Goldwater Institute had this to say on his Facebook:
"The AZ GOP is hell-bent on being unappealing and unprofessional. Mark 2012 as the beginning of the decline as the party grows ever more insular and alienates independents like me that it needs to win."
"County Chair Haney is an angry divisive man who publicly attacks not only McCain but Kyl and Flake. The new state chmn also has narrow appeal and already is beset by scandal. I wish someone with broad appeal and ability to unify could have won"!
BRAVO Mr. Bolick, I couldn't have said that any better myself!
I want to preface my comments saying that the large majority of Tea Party folks are great, American Patriots!
Unfortunately, ROB HANEY & his merry band of Mind Numbed Robots just "Tea Bagged" the Tea Party.
Was Tom Morrissey Vetted before they ran him for Chairman?
Sure doesn't look like it! This is from the "Three Sonorans" Blog:
VIDEO: New TEA Party leader of AZ Republicans responds to allegations of violence from his 4th wife

"For some reason the video above of the new leader of the AZ GOP Tom Morrissey keeps being deleted off the interwebs, but it has re-emerged.

Tom Morrissey, new leader of the Arizona Republican Party, responds to allegations of violence from his 4th wife.NOTE: If you were 'innocent', wouldn't you look directly into the camera? Just a thought!
If you do not know the history behind the latest chisme, it seems the party of “family values” and “sanctity of marriage” that held its state convention not in a hotel conference room but in a mega-church has elected a TEA Party candidate who has been married 5 different times with the 4th requiring a restraining order.

Morrissey in his 'speech' after nomination, said "That while big donations without strings will be welcome, he will also focus on small donations from many." After his victory, Morrissey went up to a close friend of mine (a very successful businessman) and said, "I understand your a businessman, I'm going to raise $130,000 in the next month, can you help?" My friend just smiled & walked away. From what I am being told, the Business Community is NOT going to help Morrissey.
The good news is that NONE of these people have ever won elections that they couldn't control. Just ask Senator J.D. Hayworth. A comment by "Mark" says it all:
"If Morrissey is a Haney guy, that means he will stir up a lot of dust, make a lot of noise, and gain proxy vote grass-roots power.
But that doesn’t lead to election victory. Most of the candidates who had signs in Haney’s yard not only lost, but lost miserably.
Very little goes into securing the Haney endorsement. You just have to oppose John McCain.
For Congress in CD3, Haney chose Sam Crump, the carpet bagger who had no interest in Arizona, which was proven as he has already moved back to California.
For U.S. Senate: We all know the drubbing J.D. took.
LD11 Senate: Rich Davis, another carpet bagger who nobody in Arizona even knew before and who completely embellished his resume, and many took the bite hook line and sinker. At least Crump paid his dues a little.
For LD11 House: Sarah Palin wannabe Dusti Morris. She had no experience or credentials. Last place finisher … I know, she took her name off, but we know why … because she was in last place.
I don’t know Morrissey, but having Haney’s backing doesn’t bode too well for me. The “family values” sound bites don’t get us off on a real good start.
We might be in for a real tough couple years. Redistricting will take a lot of money to support and defend. I don’t see how we do it."
Finally, this comment from 'Travis' just about sums up this whole disaster:
As usual, the Pullen/Haney/Morrisey crowd’s advise to everyone not praising or following them: Shut up or get out!
Do you even hear yourselves?
Writing that there will be fewer donors and therefore less money is an opinion. Why do people with this opinion need to “be silent”? Afterall, some of them are the donors who will not be donating now. Others are simply looking at the facts and the bottom line as reported to the assembled PCs.
Still others, like me, have been treated personally to dirty tricks, violent talk and personal vendettas from the Pullen/Haney/Morrisey crowd.
Shall we all “be silent” while the funds dry up, the doors close and the building falls apart?
Should the majority of us who have served our state with honor and choose to support all of our Republican leaders gag ourselves while newcomers with agendas other than building the Republican Party and it’s principles destroy it?
Shall I “just go away” and let people who only woke up to politics a few years ago and don’t know what they’re doing ruin a very honorable legacy of Republicanism in Arizona?
I don’t have to be silent. I will not be silent. And you can wave your personal agenda flags, wear your ridiculous buttons and scream all day long underneath placards, but I won’t stop.
I agree with you Travis! I won't stop either until we are rid of these "pariahs" that permiate our Party.
677 State Committeeman voted for Tom Morrissey! It's ALL on your shoulders now!

Funny thing happened on the way to the GOP State Party convention!
A local group, euphemistically called "GrassrootsAZ" worked very hard to recruit a bunch of PC's in LD11 with the express purpose of knocking out Rob Haney and Randy Pullen as State Committeemen. This prevented Randy from running for Re-election. (Although Randy was appointed at the Maricopa County Meeting, he declined to seek re-election.)
Had there NOT been such a vindictive group hell-bent upon knocking out Randy, we would at least have had a competent, CPA at the helm for another two years.
I just love how the McCain side of our party, who actively starves the State of money by influencing wealthy donors to NOT give, is the side complaining that the State Party has no money. They said the same thing about Ruth McClung, just as a fundraiser was held in D.C. in October for Jesse Kelly and David Schweikert, but excluded Ruth and Janet Contrares.
Hmmm... Perhaps we got what we deserved considering all of the posturing that went on during this whole affair.
McCain loyalists thought booting Randy would guarantee a win for their candidate. Not so!
Now look at the mess they have made!
Well, the rest of us will rally around Tom and lift him up, so that he can lead us with confidence.
Who Knows? He may surprise people!
Mr. Dutch,
I think you have the wrong information. John McCain ENDORSED & RAISED MONEY for both Ruth & Jesse Kelly.
Nice try!
Answer me this Dutch. If Pullen was doing such a 'great job', why the the RNC vote him out as Treasurer?
