GOV. JAN BREWER STILL CLOBBERING TERRY GODDARD IN LATEST Rasmussen Reports™ Poll

Election 2010: Arizona Governor

Arizona Governor: Brewer (R) Still Well Ahead of Goddard (D)

Friday, October 29, 2010

Incumbent Republican Jan Brewer remains well ahead of Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General Terry Goddard in the state’s gubernatorial contest.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Arizona shows Brewer with 53% support to Goddard’s 39%. Seven percent (7%) like some other candidate, and one percent (1%) is still undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

As it has from the start, this race remains Solid Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard.

At the beginning of the month, Brewer held a similar 55% to 39% lead. Since May, Brewer's support has run from 52% to 60%, while Goddard's has remained in the 35% to 39% range.

Arizona allows early voting, and among those who have already voted, Brewer leads Goddard 53% to 43%.

The survey of 500 Likely Voters in Arizona was conducted on October 28, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Rasmussen Reports will release final numbers from Arizona’s U.S. Senate race this weekend.

Brewer’s political fortunes in the state were reversed by her signing of and strong support for the state’s new immigration law. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of the state’s voters now approve of the job she is doing as governor, while 42% disapprove.

Sixty-one percent (61%) support the immigration law, while 34% are opposed. More than 60% of Arizona voters have supported the law since Brewer signed it in April.

Eighty-one percent (81%) of the law’s supporters favor Brewer. Goddard who opposes the law has the backing of 85% of voters who are against it.

Brewer is viewed favorably by 58% of Arizona voters and unfavorably by 41%, with 36% Very Favorable and 29% Very Unfavorable.

Forty-one percent (41%) hold a favorable opinion of Goddard, while 51% view him unfavorably. This includes 26% with a Very Favorable view and 33% with a Very Unfavorable one.

This marks little change in either candidate’s favorability numbers from the previous survey.

Brewer’s political views are regarded as mainstream by 55% of Arizona voters, compared to 44% who feel that way about Goddard’s. Thirty-two percent (32%) say the GOP incumbent’s views are extreme, but 38% say the same of the Democrat’s views.

Eighty-two percent (82%) of Arizona Republicans support Brewer, while just 66% of the state’s Democrats back Goddard. The candidates are tied among voters not affiliated with either of the major parties.

Twenty-nine percent (29%) of all voters in the state say they are Tea Party members, well above participation nationally. Fifty-eight percent (58%) say they are not members, but 13% more aren’t sure.

Eighty-seven percent (87%) of Tea Party members support Brewer. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of non-members prefer Goddard.

Forty-seven percent (47%) of all the state’s voters describe their personal finances as good or excellent, but 12% rate them as poor. However, while 29% say their finances are getting better, 40% say they are getting worse.

Brewer carries the majority of voters among both those who say their finances are improving and those who say they are getting worse.

NOTE:  Despite John Dougherty & Casey Newton's vicious lies, Gov. Brewer is going to win this race.  Nice try morons!
