AZ REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES UPDATE - SEPT 8, 2010

Franks Says Refusal to Confront Iran is Costing American Lives

September 8, 2010 - Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02), responding to a new report indicating that the Iranian regime is funding Taliban efforts to kill American troops in Afghanistan, today released the following statement:

"In light of this new report -- which comes on the heels of a July announcement by General Raymond Odierno, the top commander on the ground in Iraq, that Iran is funding and training insurgent groups in Iraq and a March announcement by General David Petraeus that Iran is directly assisting al-Qaeda -- there exists no valid excuse president Obama could conjure as to why he is content to allow Iran to continue their actions unchallenged.

"Furthermore, these disturbing announcements may prove to be just the tip of the iceberg, if President Obama continues to stand by and refuse to confront Iran over their defiant pursuit of a nuclear weapons program.

"If Iran successfully attains nuclear weapons -- and they grow closer by the day, with some reports indicating that they already have
enough enriched uranium for as many as two nuclear weapons -- the concern will no longer be as 'simple' as insurgent groups armed with guns and IEDs. Instead, freedom-loving nations around the world will face the prospect of an attack by terrorist groups armed with nuclear devices, thereby forever changing the face of the world as we know it today.

"The Iranian regime's violent, brutal actions are not a problem that we can wait months or years to address. They are an immediate threat. And for every day President Obama decides to continue sitting on the sideline and refusing to lead, he does so at the expense of American lives."

Congressman Franks is serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, and is a member of the Committee on Armed Services, Strategic Forces Subcommittee, Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee, Military Readiness Subcommittee, Committee on the Judiciary, Constitution Subcommittee, and is Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law.

Henry Kissinger, former Sec. of State, has said and even warned that Iran will now be the hub, of a proliferation of nukes, in the Middle East.

Iran will now have nukes inside a year. Our own government is not willing to do anything to stop it. The sanctions are a joke and without Russia and China on board, the Iranians will be the center of a new and more deadly threat to all free countries.

I just hope that when they decide to use them and they will use them, that Russia and China are the first to know.

I still believe that Israel will strike before they can send one into Tel Aviv. Obama may have thrown them under the bus, but they will not forsake the USA. They have been and will continue to be, our friend.

I wonder if a member of Obamas' staff, has any pictures of him, on his rug facing East?

Hopefully, Trent Franks, will be somewhere near the top in the new leadership at the House.
