Rep. Grijalva Supports the Sierra Club over Job Creation
Tucson, AZ - Despite the fact that no one was seriously injured and no oil was spilled, Raul Grijalva decided to use Thursday's accident aboard a Gulf of Mexico oil and gas rig to call for an extension of President Obama's moratorium on offshore oil production.
But while Congressman Grijalva and the Sierra Club tried to pile on this so-called disaster, the Times-Picayune of New Orleans reported that safety valves on the rig's seven wells were activated successfully, and that damage was limited to the facility itself.
Once again, Mr. Grijalva has shown his total disregard for job creation, economic development and debt reduction in favor of campaign contributions from extremist environmental organizations.
"Dependence on foreign oil has added billions of dollars to our national deficit, the people of the GulfCoast need jobs, and Raul Grijalva is more interested in his re-election than doing what's right for our country," said Ruth McClung. "We should always work to advance the safety and reliability of our energy production technology. But putting people out of work and increasing our dependence on foreign oil just isn't an option right now."

Cook Political Report Moves CD-5 to Toss Up from Leans Democratic
Published 09/02/2010
In his “Crystal Ball” tipsheet, Sabato predicted that Republicans could win the House by picking up a net 47 seats, a number that accounts for probable Democratic pickups in Hawaii, Louisiana and Delaware in seats that are currently in Republican hands.
The new numbers — which Sabato says are the result of President Obama’s low approval ratings, high unemployment and more Republican enthusiasm — mirror new ratings from Charlie Cook’s Cook Political Report.
On Thursday, House editor David Wasserman moved 10 Democrats into more dangerous territory. He shifted five seats that previously leaned Democratic into the pure toss-up category: those held by Reps. Ann Kirkpatrick in Arizona’s 1st District, Harry Mitchell in Arizona’s 5th, John Salazar in Colorado’s 3rd, Ciro Rodriguez in Texas’ 23rd and Steve Kagen in Wisconsin’s 8th.
