JD Hayworth's 'Social Media Director' Rachel Alexander wrote an article today called "John McCain: Bringing Home More Pork for Arizona"!
In the article, Ms. Alexander BLASTS Senator John McCain saying, "Meanwhile, McCain hypocritically continues to bring home defense pork to Arizona."
Really? Are You Serious?
From Elaine M. Scruggs, Glendale, AZ Mayor:
"As the U.S. Air Force’s largest fighter wing and the only active duty F-16 training base in the world, Luke Air Force Base plays a critical role in protecting America’s freedom and security. And with over 7,000 employees and a financial impact of over $2.1 billion annually, Luke Air Force Base is key to the state of Arizona’s economic viability."
Gov. Jan Brewer said the F-35 could initially bring in as much as $125 million in construction money to prepare the base for the aircraft.
"It's going to be huge, and it's going to be a big part of the Arizona (economic) comeback," she said.
The governor said the economic effects of the F-35 will be felt locally in businesses, schools and employment.
"It's that trickle-down effect that's going to make that change, and it's a huge change," she said.
Senator John McCain says, “The Air Force has recognized that the unparalleled capabilities inherent to Arizona – from the Barry M. Goldwater Range, to great flying weather, and strong support from state and local governments and communities, serve to provide the best environment and the finest quality of life for our military personnel training in the Air Force’s next generation fighter. In return, Luke AFB offers the West Valley and the State of Arizona a strong economic engine contributing more than 8,000 jobs and $2.17 billion annually to the state’s economy."
Without Luke, this would seriously hurt our economy even more. Obviously this is not pork, it's about defense of our nation, and if we are going to train, we might as well do it here.
In fact, this is almost like her gaffe over the McCain closing statements. She would rather hurt Arizona and not have Luke (because failure to get the F35 would be the death of Luke) than to see John McCain do something good for our state.
Didn't her boss, J.D. Hayworth support LukeAFB getting the F-35 program?
