HORNE SAYS S.B. 1070 IS A "FORCE MULTIPLIER" FOR BORDER SECURITY; OBAMA LAWSUIT AGAINST S.B. 1070 IS BASELESS

Tom Horne, Republican Attorney General candidate, says today's confirmation that the U.S. government will file suit against S.B. 1070, is proof that the Obama administration is more comfortable in court than actually protecting the border.

"One of the specific Constitutional obligations of the federal government is to protect the sovereignty of the U.S. border. S.B. 1070 requires local law enforcement to enforce federal law, thereby freeing more border guards to actually be on the border. The law that the Obama administration is challenging is actually a force multiplier for border enforcement, "Horne said.

"If President Obama were serious about that, he would not be fighting the people of Arizona in court. He would be sending at least 6,000 more personnel to the border to impede the catastrophic tide of illegal crossers. Suing Arizona does nothing to stop any illegal crossings."

"I visited the border recently and saw first-hand the deficiencies of the current federal approach to international security," Horne added. "The fence should be completed, and there should be border agents at forward operating bases every 12 miles as set forth by The Arizona Cattle Growers' Restore Our Border Security Plan, which I endorse," Horne added.
