HORNE INVITES OBAMA TO ARIZONA MEXICO BORDER TO SEE BORDER CRISIS FIRST HAND
Republican Attorney General candidate Tom Horne is inviting President Obama to Arizona to see for himself the effects of illegal immigration.
"President Obama has visited nearly two dozen foreign countries since taking office. But he hasn't had time to take a look at Arizona's border with Mexico, which is the source of an unprecedented
domestic border crisis," Horne said. "Therefore, as a statewide elected official who is seeking the state's top law enforcement position, I am formally inviting President Obama to Arizona to see the border with Mexico, to visit with the ranchers whose families have worked the region since the late 1800s, and to get a personal understanding of the hardships brought to Arizona by illegal border crossers."
Horne added, "The President's speech this morning was full of irony. He claimed that the southwest border has never been more secure. That's a fallacy, and he should see for himself why it is a fallacy. He once again criticized S.B. 1070 and spread more disinformation about its effect, while ignoring the reality that a huge majority of Arizonans and people nationwide support S.B. 1070 because it finally gives state and local law enforcement the tools needed to fight illegal immigration. If the President and the federal government won't take serious action to protect the border, states like Arizona must."
"I am disappointed that the President is not serious about this problem," Horne continued. "His proposal to add 1,200 border agents is utterly insufficient when 6,000 are needed. His claim today that the border is "too vast" to effectively patrol is, frankly, an abrogation of his duty to protect the people of the United States."
