Senator McCain and Senator Kyl Invite President Obama To Visit The Arizona-Mexico Border

This afternoon, Senators McCain and Kyl sent a letter to the White House inviting President Obama to the Arizona-Mexico Border.

The letter reads:

July 8, 2010

The Honorable Barack Obama

President

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear President Obama:

We invite you to visit the Arizona-Mexico border to observe the effects of illegal immigration and meet with federal, state and local officials, as well as local residents. Arizonans who live and work on the border want you to hear their stories about the drug and human smugglers who enter our country illegally and threaten the safety and security of local residents.

When you visit the border, you will see that Arizonans are desperate for their federal government to fulfill its fundamental responsibility to protect its citizens. We believe you will also see that the current resources put forward to secure the border are inadequate.

Sincerely,

John McCain

United States Senator

Jon Kyl

United States Senator
###

Early this year, Senators McCain and Kyl put forward a 10-Point Plan to secure Arizona's Border. You can view the plan here.
