FOURTH OF JULY -- Senator McCain Visits Our Brave Troops In The Middle East

Just yesterday, Senator McCain left for the Middle East on an important visit to Iraq, Afghanistan and numerous stops in between to visit our servicemen and women who are defending the principles and ideals of our great Nation.

Senator McCain believes that defeat is not an option in this war and he is committed to seeing our Nation be victorious in Afghanistan and Iraq. I know you share his commitment in this fight.

His trip will include meetings with our top military leaders, including General Petreaus, to assess the situation on the ground and our readiness for the fight ahead. But most importantly, it will also include visiting with our troops, so he can share the deep appreciation we all share for every serviceman and woman's sacrifice on this Independence Day Weekend.

Over the last few years, this has become an annual trip for Senator McCain to be able to assess first hand that our men and women have every tool they need to conduct these critical missions overseas. His trip will continue through Thursday, July 7th, so please check back at johnmccain.com for a full recap on his visit late next week.

I also wanted to update you on the status of the election. Senator McCain's positive message of fiscal conservatism, a strong national defense, and embracing the ideals of Ronald Reagan is uniting Arizonans behind Senator McCain. This was reflected in a recently published public poll by Magellen Strategies, which declared "Senator John McCain leads former Congressman JD Hayworth by 23 points, 52% to 29%". While polls often change, the reality is that your hard and tireless work to spread the facts about Senator McCain's solid conservative record of leadership on the most important issues facing our Nation, from the economy, to spending, to our national defense is being heard.

Again, thank you for your commitment to re-electing Senator McCain. And as you and your family enjoy this this Independence Day weekend, Senator McCain asks that you please take a moment to honor America and all that we are - and let us also remember our military servicemen and women who are protecting our freedom across the globe.

Thank you,
Mark Buse
