McCAIN CAMPAIGN FILES 1ST QUARTER FUNDRAISING REPORT

$2.3 million raised, $4.6 million cash on hand

PHOENIX, AZ – U.S. Senator John McCain's re-election campaign today announced that the campaign has raised more than $2.3 million in the first three months of 2010 and reports $4.6 million cash on-hand in its 1st Quarter Federal Election Commission (FEC) report, filed today.

John McCain 2010 campaign Communications Director Brian Rogers released the following statement on Senator McCain’s 1st Quarter fundraising figures:

"Senator McCain's strong backing from thousands of Arizonans clearly shows the growing support for his bold leadership in standing and fighting the Democrats' misguided liberal agenda in Washington. We are in a strong position today, and Senator McCain continues
to work hard to earn Arizonans' continued trust and support."

"By contrast, Congressman Hayworth’s campaign has stumbled out of the starting gate, as he
fell short of his much-publicized March fundraising goal.

Arizona conservatives are growing increasingly concerned about Congressman Hayworth’s record as an “avid earmarker” and his votes for billions in pork barrel earmark spending during his 12 years in Congress.

As his conservative colleagues in the House like Rep. John Shadegg and Rep. Joe Scarborough have
recently said, Congressman Hayworth actually attacked the fiscal conservatives who were trying to stop the spending spree in Washington.

“The contrast couldn’t be more clear: Senator McCain has never requested a pork barrel earmark, and fights the big spenders in Washington every day, while Congressman Hayworth played the pork and earmark game that’s bankrupting our nation’s future. Arizona needs a Senator who will fight the big spenders in Washington, not join them.”
