D-BACKS WORLD SERIES HERO LUIS GONZALEZ ENDORSES SENATOR JOHN McCAIN FOR RE-ELECTIONPHOENIX, AZ – U.S. Senator John McCain’s re-election campaign today announced that former Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder, three-time team MVP and five-time MLB All-Star Luis Gonzalez has endorsed Senator John McCain for re-election.
Gonzalez is currently an executive with the D-backs franchise. Senator McCain attended the D-backs Opening Day game versus the San Diego Padres yesterday afternoon in Phoenix.
“Today I am very pleased to endorse my friend and fellow D-backs fan John McCain for re-election to the
United States Senate,” said Luis Gonzalez. “Senator McCain has been a champion for Arizona in Washington, and I know he loves our great state as much as I do. I urge my fellow Arizonans to send Senator McCain back to Congress so he can continue his fight for our conservative values.”
“Luis Gonzalez is among the most well-respected and accomplished players in D-backs history, and I am proud to have his support,” said Senator John McCain.
“I admire Luis’ many contributions to Arizona both on and off the field. We D-backs fans were lucky to have Luis on our team when his walk-off single brought the World Series title to Arizona in 2001, and I am honored to have him on my team today.”
