J.D. Hayworth’s spokesman has left the former Republican congressman’s campaign for Senate, POLITICO has learned.
Jason Rose, a local Republican consultant, ended his service for Hayworth on Friday.
Rose told POLITICO that the decision was “just business” and insisted that there was no rift between him and Hayworth, who is challenging Sen. John McCain in the Arizona Republican primary.
“At the time of the announcement we still didn’t have a contract resolved,” Rose said, adding that last week was as “good a time as any for us to terminate.”
Rose said that he “has been” and is “going to be paid” for his time with Hayworth.
The consultant has also worked for Hayworth’s top endorser, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and insisted the former congressman has a “terrific staff in place” without his help.
Hayworth is trailing McCain by wide margins in recent polls and after an initial surge of positive news has fallen flat.
Hayworth — who promotes himself as the tea party candidate — was unable to secure the endorsement of any of the state’s four largest tea party organizations and has been plagued by numerous recent verbal gaffes.

I wonder if Rose left Hayworth for lack of payment? JD has hundreds of thousands of unpaid legal debt owed to the team that he hired to fight the Abramoff battle. Abramoff, a convicted lobbyist, gave JD money and royalties during his last term in office.
The beginning of the end should have been the last time we saw JD in Washington. He was ignorant and immoral then, he is even more ignorant and even more pathetic now. McCain has proven to us he deserves to keep fighting against this administration! We need him to fight against the spending like he has, we need him to continue fighting for our Nation's security and we need him to keep fighting against Obamacare!
