NOTE: DO YOU THINK JD HAYWORTH WOULD BE INVITED TO SUCH AN EVENT? NOT A CHANCE IN HELL, JUST LIKE HIS CHANCES OF BEING A SENATOR (SLIM & NONE)!
February 23, 2010
It's not exactly a reprisal of the hard-fought 2008 presidential campaign, but Fox has learned Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, has been chosen to attend this Thursday's health care summit at the White House.
Senate Republicans will be led by GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY, and the following members of his conference will also be attending:
The two doctor-senators: Tom Coburn, R-OK, and John Barrasso, R-WY.
Members of leadership: Jon Kyl, R-AZ, and Lamar Alexander, R-TN. (They are also members of the Finance and Health Committees, respectively).
Top Republicans on health care-related committees: Chuck Grassley, R-IA, and Mike Enzi, R-WY.
Senate Dem Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, already named his group:
Members of leadership: Dick Durbin, D-IL, Chuck Schumer, D-NY (Schumer is also a member of the Finance Committee - has been very active in health care talks).
Chairmen of relevant health care related committees:
Max Baucus, D-MT, and Tom Harkin, D-IA.
And Sen. Chris Dodd, D-CT, will also attend --- he was first chosen by the Health Committee's late chairman, Ted Kennedy, to shepherd the health care bill through when the former chairman became debilitated with cancer.
Budget Committee Chairman & Finance Committee member Kent Conrad, D-ND, and Jay Rockefeller, D-WV, a prominent liberal voice and top member of the Finance Committee who first pushed for the public option (years ago).
Having listened to hours upon hours of debate from these very senators, it is nearly impossible to see how they can find common ground.
These senators come from vastly divergent views.
