Did the Obama Administration think we wouldn't notice that their $9.5 million stimulus web site was full of errors?
If you haven't heard, Recovery.gov features districts that don't exist and numbers that don't add up.
Our staff checked the data for all 50 states, territories and the District of Columbia on Recovery.gov and there are obvious errors in every single one.
For instance, the website lists a 00, 10, 11th, 14th and 18th congressional district in Indiana when Indiana only has nine districts.
I'd say a quick search will give you a little something to say about this irresponsible website that has cost American taxpayers millions of dollars.
According to the ABC article, the General Services Administration published a release Wednesday night saying the site would be redesigned -- for $9.5 million and, perhaps, as much as $18 million in the next five years.
Seriously?
Edward Pound, spokesman for the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board that runs Recovery.gov:
"We have to have the capability to receive that information and post it," he said.
"And we need the infrastructure to support all of that. They are going to be filing very detailed information -- who the key officers are on every project, what they're paid, and so forth. And you'll have to be able to see that, very quickly."
Note that OMB Watch built a site called FedSpending.org, which does basically the same thing, for $600,000. Something to talk about? I think so.
