MSNBC'S RACHEL MADDOW DELIBERATELY CRASHES REPUBLICANVILLE.COM'S WEB SITE!

Earlier this evening on her national cable show, MSNBC's Ultra Liberal
RACHEL MADDOW used the to opportunity to talk about the brand new Conservative Social Network, REPUBLICANVILLE.COM.

She urged her viewers (mostly liberals from the low ratings her show receives) to log onto the website. Well, they did!!!

So many in fact that they crashed the website (it is now back up & running). Here is a statement from Republicanville.com Co-Founder CHARLES JENSEN:

"Tonight Rachel Maddow of MSNBC did a full story on Republicanville.com causing millions of her viewers to go to our website. I believe that she reported on Republicanville for the sole purpose of crashing our social network. While I am flattered that she reported on Republicanville, I believe her intentions were malicious and served no one in the end. This is the second time MSNBC has reported on Republicanville this week and the second time they have crashed our server. This just proves that many Liberals will do anything to censor Republican's free speech in this country."

How could a low number of people (you mention Rachel Maddow's show has low ratings) cause a site to crash? Sounds like republicanville.com really needs to shell out more money for servers and a robust load balancing solution especially if they want to cater to the many millions of Republican/Conservative folks.

Jieuryl1,

Even a low rated show like her's gets an audience. Republicanville.com was just introduced; they haven't formally announced it yet except on this blog. And remember, this was launched by two people, not a huge corporate entity or by the Republican Party. The folks at Republicanville are working hard to upgrade the servers. No one expected this to grow as fast as it has. I saw the potential & so did the creators of it.

Hey, not to be critical, but the video on this blog of Maddow's show hardly amounts to what Charles calls a "full story." It was only 22 seconds long. I suspect that if I ever actually watched Maddow's show, I'd have missed it if I had blinked. The characterization of that short, little speel as being a "full story" needs to be changed for credibility sake. Really.

Just like this blog!

So, I'm confused, it's censorship that Republicanville doesn't can't afford the bandwidth or servers to keep themselves up and running.

What, are they looking for a handout or something? They're required to get this because they've got something to say?

Funny - I don't remember the Constitution offering everyone a free printing press along with the 1st Amendment.

Buck up, Chuck. Whining never solved anything!

Normal people in America find cultural seperatists and those obsessed with the idea of the "Real America" so much, fascinating. Like when the freakshow or circus comes to town.

For a Party to actually feel the need to form its own agenda-based, dimestore copy of Facebook so you can all get together and compare Obama to Hitler, or talk about Death Panels, etc. Should be endlessly entertaining, and should also show just how low the Republican Party has sunk.

It ought to bring out every "Tree of Liberty" loon and teabagging nut out of the woodwork for the entire world to have a good laugh at.

I'm sure with a little effort you will be able to find some honest and willing Republican source of funding to solve your server woes.

You could start by cutting healthcare to your employees, or maybe find yourself a good right wing special interest group with deep pockets that wants to help you tell the world about your version of "Freedom"

Hey Klute....Welcome Back!

I think you would be surprised at how many readers PM has. We have over 1,000 subscribers to our daily e-mail, so I am not worried about what you say about it.

You of all people should know just how expensive servers & bandwidth are? The folks over at Republicanville.com are working to solve those problems. You must understand; this new Social Network is NOT done by the GOP or any political entity. It's two young businessmen from Scottsdale.

I see a tremendous potential in this Klute. I think you do too.

Too bad neither of us thought of it first!

Tony,

And I *do* understand about bandwidth and servers and the cost.

But rather than taking the blame and manning up, Chuckles has to play the martyr and cloak his incompetence in "WAAAA! RACHEL MADDOW!".

Come on. When I botch a performance, I don't go around blaming anyone else other than myself.

I thought Republicans were about personal responsibility!

Actually Klute I think "Chuckles" rather enjoys the fact that liberals are promoting his site.

I think you libs are mad since you can't control this.

What Charles is doing is promoting the Republican brand to a group of young people who have never been involved in politics before.

I salute what he is trying to do. And I know they will succeed!!!

"What Charles is doing is promoting the Republican brand to a group of young people who have never been involved in politics before."

If they've never been involved in politics before then why would they use a strictly agenda-driven political copy of facebook and not just facebook?

If you read the comments people are making there, these are people who already know where they stand. To every young person who caught on to social networking when it was actually new (About 5 years ago) this site is a joke.

It's little more than another transparent echo chamber where the right can further seclude itself from the mainstream. The fact that they rely on sites with expressly partisan agendas is just going to push more and more moderates out of the party.

The Republican party is falling in on itself and all they do is become more and more exclusive, shrill and radical, writing their own death sentence.

The Klute said...

"I think you libs are mad since you can't control this."

Actually, I'm thrilled about it. The more you isolate yourselves, the easier it is for us to pick off the moderates.

I'm just annoyed that Chuck has to play the martyr, and again - could have just said:

"Response was so great that it actually crashed our servers. Republicanville is taking off!"

But he chose to go (and do this in your best "Droopy Dog" voice):

"Boo-hoo. Boo-hoo-hoo. Liberals tried to crash the server."

No. Personal. Responsibility.

What young person in thier right mind would align themselves with the very party that put America where it is right now?

If that's the first involvement in politics, they ought to do a little homework first (I realize that is asking quite a lot.)

Joining some club of Birthers, Deathers, and who knows what else sort of tinfoil hat ill-informed nutjobs would be a pretty sad first foray.

"What Charles is doing is promoting the Republican brand to a group of young people who have never been involved in politics before."

Who is going to join a site called REPUBLICANville aside from people who are already Republicans? The GOP won't be adding any members to its ranks through this site, that's for sure. It'll just be another place for right-wingers to talk about how much they hate those damn "libs" and pretend that Republicans actually have the majority in this country. "Silent majority" my ass.

This is just another shining example of the right's need to turn everything bad that happens to them into a conspiracy by the Democrats. Has it ever occurred to you people that the majority of Americans might just not like your party's policies? Or is that a conspiracy too?

Tony GOPrano said...

Alex,

I think you are wrong about the GOP adding new people from the Republicanville web site. It was created to give 'Right Minded' people a place to meet, exchange ideas, and to network. Look at the success of 'Politics On The Rocks' a group launched by Charles Jensen over 2 years ago. He has brought in young professionals to the GOP in droves. Look at his events? To say that the GOP is dead is a huge mistake you liberals are making.

The best tool we Republicans have is not a Social Network, but the actions of 'YOUR' leader Mr. Obama!

Let's see how well you all do in the 2010 midterm elections?

Referee said...

I think even in 2010 the moderates in this country are going to be unwilling to hand the keys back over to the Party that got us Two wars, a lot of unemployment and a shitty economy.

Let alone that a great many more are unwilling to turn the government over to Gun Nuts, Corporate Shills, or C Street Crypto-evangelicals.

I doubt by 2010 the "Obama is Mephestopheles!" party will be able to get itself together enough to get elected dog catcher.

There are a lot of people in this country in trouble. With no health care. A lot of people will remember the GOP, and that it says "No, We Can't" or "What's in it for me?" while the country crumbles around them.

So we will see in 2010, but I suggest the GOP keep doing what its doing and being as "Patriotic" as they have shown themselves to be. There can be no better help to the "Liberals" than that.

"I think you are wrong about the GOP adding new people from the Republicanville web site. It was created to give 'Right Minded' people a place to meet, exchange ideas, and to network."

So again I ask, why would anyone who isn't already "Right Minded" want to join this site? It is a social network created by Republicans and specifically marketed to Republicans. Which is fine if the creators want to do that, but where is the potential for attracting anyone who isn't already a Republican? Politics on the Rocks is the same thing. The group's mission is to "bring Republican & Conservative Professionals together in a monthly happy hour." They do not bring anyone to the Republicans' side, they merely gather people who already agree with them.

The GOP certainly isn't dead, but the actions of conspiracy-mongers like yourself certainly aren't helping it. If you want the GOP to have any hope of gaining political ground the first thing you're going to have to do is accept the fact that right now, far more Americans would rather have a Democrat in power than a Republican. Not because of any conspiracy, or ACORN, or whatever the hell you're blaming today, but because the majority of Americans know that the Democrats, at this point in time, are the better party. Get that through your head, stop blaming the "libs" for the GOP's downfall, and start blaming the people who deserve it--your own Republican leaders.

Wow... listen to all of the marxist, liberal, socialist (or whatever you call yourselves) shrill on a site and people they hate. It's hilarious - and whiny as usual.

If it's such low ratings, how could we have crashed your site? Seriously, use your brain a little bit next time. You have a bad server for a social site....you know, social site....site where people come to be social. Where you get hits and need to use a server. I hardly think Rachel MEANT to crash your server.

As Klute said:

Perfectly put!
