BEACON HILL REPUBLICAN PREPARES FOR POSSIBLE HOUSE BID
Rep. Martha Walz, a Beacon Hill Democrat in her third term, may face a challenge for her seat.
Brad Marston, whose Facebook page describes him as a "lifelong Republican" who wants to end the "Tyranny of Dead Ideas," organized a political committee Monday, which will
enable him to raise money for a run in the Eighth Suffolk district, Walz's territory.
Marston, a 1982 Georgetown University graduate with degrees in economics and philosophy, was active in U.S. Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign.
Organizing a political committee enables a candidate to begin fundraising.
Walz, the House chair of the Committee on Education, is the third member of the Education Committee facing a potential challenge. Rep. Allen McCarthy (D-East Bridgewater), Walz's vice chair, may see a Republican challenge from Geoff Diehl, a sign company executive. Rep. Geraldo Alicea (D-Charlton) is facing a potential primary challenge from Democrat Eric Morin.
