Research: AZ Spends Least On Pork By Jeff Butera Reporter, KPHO.com

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona had the lowest pork per capita of any state in the country, according to the “
2009 Pig Book,” released Tuesday by Citizens Against Government Waste.

The watchdog group, who releases the book annually, took a look at the most egregious examples of earmarks in the $9 billion worth of pork barrel spending they found in
Congress’ appropriation bills.

Arizona, though, had just $75 million of pork barrel spending. That worked out to less than $12 of pork per capita, the lowest average among any state in the country.

For comparison, Alaska had $322 of pork per capita, the highest average among any state in the country.
