Sometimes you just gotta go.
Evidently, Arizona Senator Ron Gould ( R-Lake Havasu City ) and Representative Carl Seel ( R-Deer Valley ) must’ve eaten one too many burros from an unregulated Capitol Mall lunch wagon yesterday.
Each lawmaker made a spectacle of himself by standing and abruptly leaving during Governor Jan Brewer’s Joint Legislative address late Wednesday afternoon. Surely, the Governor noticed two of her supposed Republican allies making a run for El BaƱo while she was giving the most difficult speech of her political career.
I wonder if the Governor was tempted to interrupt her speech by ignoring the teleprompter for a moment and saying loudly,
“Senator Gould, Are you feeling okay? Representative Seel, have you fallen ill as well? Oh no! Senator Pearce, would you be a SWEETIE and follow those two to the men’s room. I’m worried there might be an outbreak of the Norovirus or something like it. Don’t forget to wash your hands before you come back in.”
Gould and Seel showed a tremendous amount of disrespect during their unfortunate timing of a potty break and toddler tantrum. Couldn’t either one of you hold it? Not your pipes…..I’m talking about your temper and mouth. Does the Arizona legislature now need to appropriate barf-bags and a J-John inside the chamber?
Truthfully, neither of you are important nor high-profile enough to make a move like that effectively serve its purpose.
Instead, that kind of display of juvenile defiance leaves your constituents, peers and superiors to question your real intentions and judgment. Are the both of you getting off on your over-the-top grandstanding or do you really want to be a policy maker? Make a choice and stick with it.
You each have a couple of strikes against you already this session. There is no Liberal conspiracy against you.... you each appear to be satisfied with self-destruction. Maybe you should quit hanging out together. Oh, and don’t look so desperate. It’s not a good character trait to own, at any age.
