Update from the RNC

Dear Members:

I wanted to give you a quick update on all that is happening here at the RNC. It has been an extremely busy week. We spent the better part of the week reviewing the Transition 100 Day Plans from each division. I appreciate the time and effort that Reince, Holly, Saul, Jim, Bob, and Bo spent in their initial assessment and follow up 100 Day Plan formulations. I am excited to get to work on the implementation of these Plans. As we have discussed, we will be filling out the Senior Staff over the next several weeks. Ken McKay our Chief of Staff came on board this week. He has been spending his days meeting with the Transition Team and working to finalize implementation strategy.

Trevor Francis joined the Team this week as well as Communications Director. His experience will be invaluable as we begin to bring the RNC's communication strategies up to date. Trevor served at the RNC back when Haley was Chairman, and also Jim Nicholson. He also worked with Ed Gillespie in the private sector, on the Bush/Cheney campaign in 2000, and as press secretary for Commerce Secretary Don Evans.

I am happy to announce the addition of our Political Director - Gentry Collins - to the RNC team. He brings with him a proven record of success at building broad bases of grassroots and volunteer coalitions. Gentry most recently served as the Midwestern Regional Campaign manager for McCain-Palin, Iowa Director for Mitt Romney's Presidential campaign, National Political Director for the Republican Governors Association, and Executive Director and Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa

Coalitions, headed up by Angela Sailor, has hit the ground running. We held a national coalitions conference call and launched the Chairman's Leadership Briefings with our Conservative Coalitions and Hispanic Coalitions groups here in the building in the past week. I will keep you updated on the outcome of these crucial exchanges.

I continue to travel spreading the message and fundraising for our State Parties. I was in Portland, Oregon last week where we had a great crowd of over 600 attendees and managed to raise $175,000 for the Oregon GOP. It was great to spend time with Bob Tiernan and the grassroots.

I am traveling to Colorado as I write--I am keynoting the Colorado GOP Fundraising Dinner this evening. We are expecting a sold out crowd of more than 700. Not much rest for the weary as I leave after the dinner to fly overnight to the Republican Jewish Coalition Annual Meeting in Florida. I will have the opportunity to meet with their membership and hold a roundtable with their major donors.

Today we launched a video web ad highlighting the mystery of the Democrats' slipping in the language to the stimulus bill that allowed AIG to deliver bonuses to its executives with hard-earned tax payer dollars:

I hope you will stop in and share ideas whenever you are in Washington. I have been fortunate to see a good number of you over the past month--it is always a welcome opportunity to hear what is going on out in the States where the real work is to be done.

As always, don't hesitate to contact me for any reason.
